AY GÜEY “Reformed” Bail System Lets Loose 31 Felony Man
He’s the first Hispanic to achieve the accomplishment.
Free at last, free at last. Orale, güey free at last!
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - "I've never seen someone who's out on a total of 31 felony bonds," said Andy Kahan with Crime Stoppers.
You can't blame 24-year-old Joshua Gabriel Ortiz-Lopez for choosing freedom over a jail cell.
It's some Harris County Criminal District Court Judges who see no problem with granting a convicted felon 31 felony bonds.
"$1,160,000 in total bonds on eight felonies since 2019," Kahan said.
Ortiz-Lopez's felony charges include engaging in organized criminal activity, arson, retaliation, and possession of body armor by a convicted felon.
The strange thing about this story is that he doesn’t look like a criminal.
He seems to have recently added a teardrop tattoo. I wonder what he’s so sad about? Probably racism.
You may recall that bail reform was a top priority for the Huckster Caucus Republicans in 2021.
After they passed it (very quickly), Republicans ran on for re-election on their bail reform accomplishments.
Who was asking for bail reform, you ask?
How dare you. What are you–some kind of racist?
As usual, with no plan other than to hoax voters, Republicans were easily outmaneuvered by Democrats.
[Harris County] created a presumption of quick pretrial release for most people charged with low-level misdemeanors. This bail reform also includes cut-outs to exempt higher-risk misdemeanors like family violence, repeat DWIs, and new offenses while out on bail or probation/parole. Basically, it applies to the low-hanging fruit — the easiest cases that everyone admits pose no threat to public safety without having to touch on anything potentially controversial.
Of course, they were just lying. They’re releasing everyone.
It’s called the “Soros Loophole” where George Soros buys the election of all the big city District Attorneys in Texas, the money and power trickles down to the judges, who just whatever they want.
For some reason nobody ever gets in trouble for anything. This are the values of our democracy.
In fact, Harris County has a Soros DA, Kim Ogg, who ostensibly violated the so-called “sanctuary city” ban by releasing an illegal alien with a violent criminal record on bail, who then immediately killed a police officer.
So yeah, I guess Republicans will do bail reform again in 2023?
Can’t wait!
