Residency is a state of mind

does this apply to local county elections so that I can run for a different precinct because I spent the night at a house in that precinct or maybe because I'm looking to buy or rent in that precinct???

When Texas Congressman Lance Gooden was a state rep, his district was 2 counties in East Texas, but he lived in Austin. He owned a home in Terrell but did not live in it. I'm not defending this. I don't approve of it. But this is but one example of why Texas is in the shape it's in. Voters are low information and don't really care who gets elected to what. They either vote for Democrats, fake/corrupt Republicans, or don't vote at all. This is why Texas is turning blue.

How about a follow-up on Ken Paxton. He allegedly had not only two homesteads, but THREE primary residences. Let’s get

this all verified, good or bad, BEFORE the primary

( Don’t shoot the messenger, if Paxton is guilty, then better to know now, with certainty, so he doesn’t end up getting charged if he is the party nominee going into the November 2026 election )

When President Lincoln was approached about firing Grant because the casualties were obscene and he was drinking on the job, Lincoln's response was, " I can't spare this man. He fights." I know nothing about this latest accusation. I would love to have a family man to replace Cornyn. But the only candidate who's going to fight for us is Paxton. The others will represent themselves.

Irrelevant- democrats and independents outnumber republicans in Texas. I can’t stand Cornyn, but he would be better than ANY democrat.

He was NOT exonerated in a criminal trial.

TaxesAggie's avatar

He was completely and fully exonerated.

David Lethe's avatar

This can’t possibly go away until a criminal court looks at this. Claiming a person is exonerated in a political court is NO different than impeaching Trump for his bogus crimes in the US house

Neither carry weight in the US Justice system

Republican Rep Hunter Bonner recently filed mortgage fraud complaint recently

He’s the GOP county chair in Marion county.

Read up on the complaint. Easily found with a search engine

Sorry that you don’t get how this all works.

David Lethe's avatar

LOL, if you think an impeachment acquittal prevents a criminal inquiry or charges — then I urge you to research. You’re dead wrong

Ken Paxton is the best attorney general in the history of the state of Texas, and you’re on the wrong website if you think he needs to be investigated further. All of these claims were debunked and he was exonerated during his impeachment proceeding. This is all a hoax.

David Lethe's avatar

His success for Texas as AG is not in question. His THREE primary residences and TWO homesteads are not only a political liability but also create extreme risk of being charged.

Swawell only had 2 primary residences.

David Lethe's avatar

That doesn’t mean the charges don’t have merit. If they do, I guarantee the left will use it to kick him off the ballot.

Better to have a right-leaning reporter put this to bed once and for all rather than deal with the risk

Why would you NOT want a full investigation?

TaxesAggie's avatar

Why is he allowed to run?! Governor Abbott and Ken Paxton should launch an investigation.
