The Honorable Dr. Charles Schwertner is an orthopedic surgeon and amateur gynecologist. He also happens to be a Texas State Senator.
As most have probably heard, he was arrested for DWI earlier this week while allegedly out driving around with lil’ shawty, Claudia Ordaz-Perez.
Did a Democrat with the initials COP actually set Charles up?
Kind of rude to arrest someone on a date right before Valentine’s Day, amirite?
The bigger question is this—Why was Charles arrested in the first place? He’s supposed to be immune from arrest.
Article 3 of the Texas Constitution is clear:
Sec. 14. PRIVILEGE FROM ARREST DURING LEGISLATIVE SESSION. Senators and Representatives shall, except in cases of treason, felony, or breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during the session of the Legislature, and in going to and returning from the same.
This is further clarified in Texas criminal code.
Senators and Representatives shall, except in cases of treason, felony or breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during the session of the Legislature, and in going to and returning from the same, allowing one day for every twenty miles such member may reside from the place at which the Legislature is convened.
Tex. Code Crim. Proc. § 1.21. Acts 1965, 59th Leg., vol. 2, p. 317, ch. 722.
Republicans are the party of law and order, so it’s time to unite behind the #FreeCharles movement. Not only is this arrest illegal and unconstitutional, it goes against natural law.

Ballers, they gonna ball
Shot callers, they gonna call”

I’m calling on all Texans in the name of Liberty, of patriotism, and everything dear to the American character, to come to Chuck’s aid with all dispatch.
When we finally take control of the Texas government, we will definitely still want this law on the books, believe me!
Makes me want to become a senator and extend the legislative sessions to 367 days. (two day overlap ...just in case)
Just like Austin cops wasting tax payers dollars arresting drunk-driving congressmen during a legislative session when they should be doing something that makes a real difference in the community, like working security at an all ages drag show. For shame!
