Charlie Geren’s in-state Tuition for Illegals OVERTURNED
Random judge delivers after the House refused.
Right after Charlie Geren [R-99] entered the Texas House 24 years ago, he immediately voted to hand out in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.
They called it the “Texas DREAM Act.” One of the many screw jobs perpetuated on the people of Texas by greedy politicians since Republicans took control.
Long before Obama, Republican Charlie Geren, who is now 75 years old, was doing Obama-like stuff for illegal aliens. In return for selling out, he’s received millions in campaign donations and 12-straight election wins.
But yesterday, out of nowhere, a judge apparently pulled the plug on Geren’s beloved scam.
Undocumented students in Texas are no longer eligible for in-state tuition after Texas agreed Wednesday with the federal government's demand to stop the practice.
The abrupt end to Texas' 24-year-old law came hours after the U.S. Department of Justice announced it was suing Texas over its policy of letting undocumented students qualify for lower tuition rates at public universities. Texas quickly asked the court to side with the feds and find that the law was unconstitutional and should be blocked, which U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor did.
This raises many questions, like why Texans always have to wait on random judges to deliver what Republicans refuse to do themselves. They prioritized a hoax school choice boondoggle, but couldn’t find the spine to end in-state tuition for illegal aliens?
I guess credit where credit is due—they blocked illegal aliens from participating in their $1B school choice scam that will be for 1% of students. So you can’t say they did nothing!
I mean, wow—like, that’s so conservative, it’s actually insane.
Don’t you love Texas politics? Or do you think we deserve better?
Texas was only able to end this insanity because President Trump sued them and made them stop!
Governor Greg Abbott made a very matter-of-fact statement on the new development—as if he hasn’t been quarterbacking this program for a decade.
Yes, Greg. You let this slide your entire time in office—but instead of rallying the people to end it, you lectured us on needing more teen girl welders in your last speech.
In 2013, when Abbott ran for governor, he didn’t just dodge taking a stand—he actually hinted it was fine. He called for reform, clearly trying to trick voters, since after getting elected he never touched it again.
Other candidates at the time called for a full repeal, but who do you think got hundreds of millions in campaign donations to gaslight voters? Gregory Wayne Moneybags.
In 2015 Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attempted to repeal the law, making it a top priority. But then, just like now, the House killed it.
A small number of tyrannical geezers still control the Texas House. As a matter of absolute fact, it didn’t actually matter if puppet David Cook or Puppet Dustin Burrows became Speaker. Nothing serious was ever going to happen with them, because they are beholden to weird agendas which they refuse to disclose to the people. They are Weird Niche Agendas First.
Charlie Geren might just be the worst of the bunch. Why did Charlie Geren vote to give in-state tuition to illegal aliens and then protect it for decades? You’ll have to ask him.
Maybe check with Texans who live in his district while you’re at it.
Buffoons, all of them. School choice is a wasted $1B and does nothing. Can we also get the random judge to not allow ANY illegal aliens at our schools? Does this ruling to disallow instate tuition address scholarships? Hardship etc. I want to be done with all of it.
