Christian Biology Professor Fired For Having Normal Views
He was a top rated professor at an HBCU
Meet Dr. Johnson Varkey, a former professor of Anatomy and Physiology at St. Phillip's College, a “Historically Black College & University” located on Martin Luther King Drive in San Antonio.
Judging by his RateMyProfessor score, he was beloved by his students but perhaps not by the university administration, which fired him back in January for “unacceptable” lectures in which Dr. Varkey taught his view that “human sex is determined by chromosomes X and Y”. St Philip’s College administration also stated that Dr. Varkey participated in “religious preaching, discriminatory comments about homosexuals and transgender individuals, anti-abortion rhetoric, and misogynistic banter”.
We have no way of knowing what actually went down in the classroom, but judging by the average college administrator’s sensibilities, it’s very unlikely any of this is true. Even if it was, it just makes Dr. Varkey possibly the best professor in Texas.
Dr. Varkey is already pursuing legal action against the school with the help of First Liberty.
The rest of their letter can be read here:
We hope he succeeds in bringing the whole college to its knees financially (or at least forces them to reinstate him). This situation is particularly interesting because it shows that even minorities are not exempt from anti-Christian hegemony in woke institutions, God-willing, Dr. Varkey will succeed, and an example will be set for others.
