Crossed the Border by May 31? These Texas Republicans Have an Amnesty Bill for You

The bill also requires company provided housing!

Three Texas Republicans have cosponsored a bill introduced into the House of Representatives that would grant limited amnesty for illegal aliens.

Rep. Monica De La Cruz, Pete Sessions, and Michael McCaul have all signed on as cosponsors to agricultural bill that would allow illegal aliens who worked in U.S. agriculture to receive waivers for immigration violations, such as overstaying their visas or entering the US illegally.

The bill, as written, would allow these illegal aliens to obtain H2-A temporary agricultural work status preventing their deportation.

It also forces the employer to provide housing:

Buried in the fine print is the part Big Ag actually paid for: a cap on farm wages.

The bill caps the federal wage floor for these workers, known as the “adverse effect wage rate,” so it can never rise more than 3.25 percent in a year. It can, however, be CUT by up to 1.5 percent a year. Straight from Section 218 of the bill:

“The adverse effect wage rate calculated under this paragraph may not (i) be more than 1.5 percent lower than the wage in effect for the immediately preceding calendar year; and (ii) be more than 3.25 percent higher than the wage in effect for the preceding calendar year.”

Another provision freezes a worker’s pay for the length of his contract even if the wage rate rises after he’s hired.

So the full offer is: amnesty for the illegal workers, legal immunity for the companies that hired them, and a wage cap making sure these jobs never pay enough to attract Americans.

The three Texas Republicans signed on to this bill represent the following areas of Texas:

• Rep. Monica De La Cruz - TX15 Rio Grande Valley and Hidalgo County.

• Rep. Pete Sessions - TX17 Central and East Texas which includes Waco, Round Rock, Huntsville, Nacogdoches, Lufkin.

• Rep. Michael McCaul - TX10 Central Texas including part of Austin, College Station, and suburbs outside Houston.

It should be noted that this is considered a bi-partisan bill that both Republicans and Democrats are supporting.

Critics of this bill say this rewards illegal aliens coming into our country illegally. This also rewards the agriculture companies with a cheap slave-labor class while punishing American workers by suppressing wage growth due to supply and demand.
