Platts does not seem to be the answer to the prayers of Texas Republicans, BUT, someone out there is. What is for sure is that Dade Phelan is NOT a Republican, He does NOT stand with Texas and WE NEED someone to challenge him. If the challenger is half decent with no baggage they will have a massive amount of support. WE WANT PHELAN GONE. TEXAS NEEDS PHELAN GONE.
In Tarrant County we have a similar case of a newly arrived ex Colorado native running against a MAGA precinct chair and now currently in a Run-Off with the incumbent for TCC Board of Trustees. She has apparently bamboozled a vast number of alleged conservatives and conned them with her bible quotes and her visitations from God himself. It is laughable except for the fact that she has been successfull. Laura Forkner Pritchett is the candidate.

Your points on growing the base - so true it hurts. We're out here like, "We're building a conservative army!" But your average voter doesn't want an army. They just want sanity and to be left the hell alone.
