Dan Crenshaw Pays Wife's Employer Using Campaign Funds

Dan is making the most out of campaign contributions

Looks like Dan Crenshaw is making sure his campaign money is being kept in the family. The Daily Caller reports:

Republican Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw’s campaign has paid a small agency that employs his wife hundreds of thousands of dollars since 2020, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records reviewed by the Daily Caller.

Tara Crenshaw has apparently received more than $60k in earnings from sales through Pink Cilantro.

The firm, Pink Cilantro, is a boutique branding agency based in Houston, Texas. The agency’s website, in service since 2013, went offline as recently as June, according to the internet archive called “The Wayback Machine.” Pink Cilantro’s owner, Basya Benshushan, told the Caller that they are in the process of “rebranding” the agency and that’s why the website is down.

The stuff politicians get away with when it comes to money and donations is crazy. Whether it be the stock market or goofy campaign expenditures, corrupt politicians will find a way to turn donations into screw-jobs.

Crenshaw’s spokespeople are playing damage control claiming his wife was only paid in commission for book deals.

Benshushan explained that Tara Crenshaw did not have an actual salary but was paid on commission. Benshushan also told the Caller that Pink Cilantro only has 12 employees.

The Daily Caller also reported that Republican Illinois Rep. Adam Kizinger has paid Crenshaw’s wife’s employer close to $500,000.

Since 2021, Kinzinger’s campaign has paid Pink Cilantro close to $500,000, according to FEC records reviewed by the Caller. Kinzinger’s office and campaign would not respond to multiple requests for comment about their work with Pink Cilantro.

We doubt Crenshaw faces any actual legal troubles for this, but it does go to show you the kind of scams he’s willing to run with his donor’s money.
