ICE “Puts Texas Taxpayers at Risk” According to Very Sincere Democrat Candidate
And what Republicans should do.
By Tommy Paine
Austin’s NBC affiliate is giving cover to illegal aliens by manufacturing tear-jerker narratives that frame those exploiting our society as misunderstood and merely “trying to work.”
It’s apparently big event coverage for KXAN and they are leaning into it. They even got marketing involved.
The image actually made me think of a cartel member trafficking a non-relative child into the US. Many such cases, as they say.
Austin’s NBC affiliate is how I learned about State Rep Vikki Goodwin (D-Austin) and her open letter to Lt. Gov. Danny P. and House Speaker Dusty B. calling for a joint chamber emergency committee meeting to talk about how ICE is cooperating with Texas law enforcement.
You have to love how the Democrat says she is concerned about the impact ICE operations will have on Texas taxpayers. By adding that line, it has me questioning whether this whole memo is some elaborate joke.
A closer reading seems to imply that what she is calling for is essentially meetings for the sake of having meetings. It’s a classic political move which gives both parties soundbites and clips to use on social media.
Isn’t politics fun?
Republicans could solve this very easily in a year or two. I will explain how but first I wanted to share a quote I read on a site like Current Revolt that covers politics in Idaho.
Idaho’s dairy industry has openly acknowledged what many already suspected — that it relies heavily on illegal immigrant labor because the work is difficult to staff domestically.
Construction leaders echo similar concerns, warning that without this workforce, housing supply tightens and growth slows.
These statements are meant to sound pragmatic.
Instead, they reveal something deeper.
Industries do not become this dependent by coincidence. Dependency forms when a system produces reliable advantages — lower wage pressure, reduced worker leverage, fewer demands, and a labor pool less able to negotiate or walk away.
Over time, what began as a workaround hardens into strategy.
And strategy becomes entitlement.
Sounds about right.
It’s time to move beyond masked federal agents disappearing Mexicans at Home Depot and start talking about real policies that actually work. To that end, I penned an open letter to Danny and Dusty on the topic, which all elected Republicans should read.
Those who are housing and employing illegal aliens should be the target of masked raids. Televise those raids. What will happen if people start getting thrown into prison for hiring and housing illegals?
Without anywhere to work or stay, what do you think illegal aliens will do?
Assuming elected Republicans truly believe what they say, there is only one reason why they would not immediately announce their intent to file these bills in the special session they are urging Governor Abbott to call:
$$$
It seems to simply be money, or the fear of losing access to money, that prevents anything effective from being passed.
We all know the people and groups. They are at fault it seems.
Let’s just hope there isn’t a sharp, polished Democrat running statewide on a simple message about billionaires running the show. Since that reality is pretty obvious to most Texans, someone who just keeps saying “billionaires” might actually overperform.

My company has used E-Verify for years. It’s easy. It also puts us at a disadvantage next to our competitors. Still, it’s the right thing to do. You’re spot on that ending the magnets is the solution. It always has been.
Nailed it!
