Illegal Photos of Dade Phelan Must Be Stopped
Republicans to consider ending free speech to save Dade.
Illegal photos are being distributed on Facebook, and while the plan is to prosecute those people, the government needs to come up with a way to stop it now. This is according to technological genius, State Representative Giovanni Capriglione [R-Southlake].
His comments came during a meeting of one of the few committees not led by a Democrat Chairman, the Select Committee on AI and Emerging Technologies. The committee met last week and heard testimony from experts and eggheads on how to stop criticism of Dade Phelan, or so it would seem.
A hot topic in the meeting was the following picture which was said to be a “deep fake” political ad, implying it was created by artificial intelligence.
Wait, sorry. That’s not the ad. That is a comic Current Revolt did a few weeks ago.
This is the ad that caused a big fuss.
The Texas Tribune says the above mailer is a “deep fake,” and is reporting how it will be illegal soon.
A recent “deepfaked” ad targeting House Speaker Dade Phelan could inspire further legislation to crack down on doctored imagery in political ads.
At the end of Monday’s hearing of the House Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, political attorney Andrew Cates suggested the committee should recommend an update to Senate Bill 751 from 2019, which created a Class A misdemeanor offense for distributing a “deep fake video” created with the intent to deceive voters.
The Texas Legislature passed a law to ban deep fake videos, but Chairman of this committee, Giovanni Capriglione, thinks the ban also applies to images—because videos are also images. (200+ IQ)
“It was multiple images, one on each side, and what’s a video but multiple images played really quickly?” Capriglione said, adding that the Legislature may need to update the law.
Here is a deepfaked video of me realizing we need a new law because videos are just images, and vice versa.
Republican State Representative Giovanni Capriglione went on to say that “illegal photos” of Dade Phelan are being shared on Facebook and that the government must come up with “a way to stop it.” (21 seconds)
We are happy to report that we have found many illegal photos of Dade Phelan. We want everyone to report these photos to Mr. Capriglione right away for the “prosecution” he promised will come later.
We have verified with Dade Phelan’s Democrat Parliamentarian that the following photos are in fact highly illegal. Anyone caught sharing the following photos may face prosecution (or worse) from Giovanni Capriglione.
Phelan loyalists are running cover for the doomed House Speaker. Unsurprising, I guess. But do they really have to stoop so low as to ban photoshop in the process?
Please don’t share this.
