Leftist Democrats Discouraged with Turnout
We attended one of their events. The mood was somber.
One of our secret squirrels attended the Indivisible TX 24 January 6 Remembrance event. The tagline for speakers Chris and Mendi Tackett was “Discover how Christian Nationalism Fueled the January 6 Insurrection.”
70 or so people attended the event. With an average age of 65, the room was hardly diverse in its demographics. This was not unnoticed by the attendees and the organizers themselves. Constant calls of “we gotta organize young people” and “young people are so checked out and discouraged” filled the Q&A time. The speakers themselves echoed this with their stirring commands to “activate the Hispanics in South Dallas.”
The whole attitude of the room, including the speakers, was one of defeat. Chris and Mendi Tackett spent much time on the evils of Christian nationalism but failed to mention their own electoral failures. Calls for clear action items from the crowd were met with either the aforementioned “register your local minority to vote blue.”
One member of the audience used his Q&A time to bring up an idea: “There are 800,000 teachers in Texas; why don’t we get them to vote in favor of public education?”
Unfortunately, the very sheepish speaker informed him that the teachers are mostly Christians and ended up “voting against their own interests.”
All in all, the feeling of defeat and desperation was thick and palpable. Happy New Year!
I wonder who’s paying the Tackett’s?
Nothing about them seems genuine.
