Man Alleges Gay Relationship With Christian GOP Candidate
Text messages show the candidate struggled with the notion of coming out.
A man claiming to be the former gay lover of a Christian Republican candidate for congress has come forward with sexual text messages he says are between the two. The man tells Current Revolt that he wishes the candidate would stop living a life of hypocrisy.
Abraham Enriquez is a 31 year-old congressional candidate for TX-19. The district covers much of West Texas, including Lubbock, Abilene, and surrounding rural areas. It’s a strongly Republican seat where the Republican runoff winner is heavily favored to defeat the Democratic candidate in the November general election.
The current Kalshi prediction market for TX-19 shows Enriquez with a 5% chance of being the Republican nominee:

Enriquez has received substantial endorsements from both Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas State Republican Senators and House Representatives:
Enriquez himself is a native West Texan who graduated from Abilene Christian University (ACU) in 2018 with a degree in political science. At one point he was also a volunteer minister.
Enriquez also founded Bienvenido, an outreach program whose goal is to mobilize and engage the Hispanic community to promote and support conservative principals. Bienvenido has had no scheduled events since May of last year and the previous event has default placeholder text with no other information:
Enriquez has positioned himself as a Christian conservative, taking stances against pride symbols and flags, and promoting faith & family agendas. He has also pledged to introduce legislation requiring federal buildings to display the Ten Commandments.
In a YouTube video posted in January of 2026 by Lubbock-based Trinity Church, Enriquez recalls a story from his time as student body vice president at Abilene Christian University where four students proposed a bill that would allow for a pro-LGBT student group to be formed at the college. Enriquez said that being the grandson of a preacher and as someone who was pro-traditional marriage, he vetoed the creation of the LGBT-group. Enriquez said that after students organized to impeach him for vetoing the group, he considered resigning. When he informed his mother of his intent to resign, she told him he wouldn’t be welcome back in the home if he resigned because she said she raised him to stand on “biblical truth.”:
However, it was around this time in 2017 that a man claims he was involved in a gay-relationship with Enriquez.
Current Revolt spoke to the man who claims he met Enriquez on the gay dating app, Grindr. He provided the following iMessages from conversations with Abraham Enriquez at the time when Enriquez was the student body Vice President at ACU. The man asked if he was coming on too strong when he mentioned his erect penis, but Enriquez assured him that it was "perfect.":
