County Chairman Sends Email Alleging Leftist Past of Republican Congressional Candidate

Real County Republican Party Chairman Jack DuBose sent a email to all county chairs in Congressional District 21 alleging Republican Congressional Candidate Mark Teixeira had quite the past with left-leaning and liberal organizations and activities.

DuBose’s letter makes the following allegations:

  • Mark Teixeira served in continuance since 2019 as a trustee of the Georgia Tech Foundation Board. During his tenure, Georgia Tech backed DEI, transgenderism, and supported gender-affirming hormone treatments.

  • Mark Teixeira also served as a trustee of Harlem RBI from 2010 to 2021, later rebranded as DREAM, which backed DEI and BLM.

  • Teixeira in 2008 co-founded Emerald Corridor Foundation and served as its director through 2020. Emerald Corridor publicly supported BLM.

  • Teixeira served as the director of the Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF) from 2014 to 2020. Under his watch, LGBTQ groups were backed, and the leftist anarchist group “Pussy Riot” was platformed.

Mark Teixeira responded to DuBose, clarifying and disputing the accusations stating:

  • He’s a lifelong conservative that has always opposed DEI and BLM.

  • Abolishing DEI, calling out BLM, and working with President Trump are reasons he decided to run for Congress.

  • Georgia Tech: He’s proudly alumni and fundraiser for Georgia Tech athletics. His role is not administrative and has no say on the school.

  • Harlem RBI: He was a trustee because he wanted to help underprivileged children. He quit the board because he did not agree with their pro-DEI stance.

  • Emerald Corridor Foundation: He donated money to Emerald Corridor Foundation to help clean up parks and rivers in Atlanta. That was the extent of his involvement.

  • Greenwich International Film Festival: Donated to give back to his community. Was not the director nor responsible for anything outlined in DuBose’s email.

Current Revolt looked into several of the allegations and determined the following:

1)Teixeira is a trustee on the Georgia Tech Foundation Board of Trustees, where Georgia Tech does offer a Student Health Insurance Plans (SHIP) that includes hormone treatments for gender-affirming care. It’s explicitly cited on the Pride Alliance resource page. Additionally, Georgia Tech has hosted several DEI workshops as well as racial reform talks.

2)In a blog post by DREAM’s Chief DEI Officer, it states: “DEI—which became a core initiative of our strategic plan in 2018—is an inextricable part of the fabric of DREAM. According to publicly available IRS 990 forms (page 9) for DREAM, Mark Teixeira was listed on the board until at least June 2020.

3)Teixeira’s response to DuBose states that he “donated money to the Emerald Corridor Foundation…that’s the extend of my involvement.” However, multiple news websites state that Teixeira formed Emerald Corridor Foundation.

UrbanCreekPartners.com:

WSB-TV Atlanta:

In 2013, Teixeira formed the Emerald Corridor Foundation to clean up Proctor Creek.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Teixeira and his partners (through Urban Creek Partners) had been assembling land in the area for years. They are also founders of the Emerald Corridor Foundation, aimed at cleaning up Proctor Creek and supporting the Proctor Creek Greenway.

In 2020, Emerald Corridor Foundation posted on social media a statement saying they were committed to “becoming engaged allies in the Black Lives Matter Movement…”

Publicly available 990 Forms (page 7) confirm Teixeira was listed on the board at the time of this social media post.

4)In his response to Dubose, Mark Teixeira says he was not the director for the Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF) and only donated and lent his name. However, multiple articles state Teixeira was on the board of directors/board member for GIFF starting around 2014.

The Hollywood Reporter:

New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira, a two-time All-Star and World Series champion, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter‘s Scott Feinberg about the recent announcement that an international film festival will take place in the affluent Connecticut town in which he lives with his wife and three children — and that he is a member of the board that is making it possible.

Patch.com:

Also serving on the film festival board, are:

Mark Teixeira is an American Major League Baseball first baseman for the New York Yankees and a Greenwich citizen and philanthropist who resides here with his family.

CNBC.com:

Teixeira is on the board of directors at DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI), The Greenwich International Film Festival, the Alexander Tharpe Fund at Georgia Tech and is a trustee of the Georgia Tech Foundation, where he attended college.

A Slideshare presentation (page 4) also explicitly lists Teixeira on the Board of Directors for GIFF.

Additionally, an archived page from the Greenwich International Film Festival Thank You page specifically thanks Teixeira and lists him on the board of directors:

In 2015, seemingly during his time as a board member, GIFF’s inaugural event featured members of Pussy Riot, a group whose members hosted a sex orgy in a public museum (WARNING: HIGHLY GRAPHIC PHOTO) featuring a pregnant woman. Pussy Riot also produced an anti-Trump music video:

When reached for comment, the Mark Teixeira campaign provided the following:

“This is just another ridiculous political attack. Mark Teixeira is a lifelong conservative who vehemently opposes DEI and BLM. His life and career in baseball and business are a testament to the power of meritocracy. His opponents are flailing as this conservative political outsider has established himself as the frontrunner, earning endorsements from Governor Greg Abbott, Congressman Jim Jordan, conservative activist Riley Gaines, and more than 70 local conservative leaders across the district.” - Keats Norfleet, Mark Teixeira for Congress

Mark Teixeira has indeed been endorsed by Governor Greg Abbott:
