Many People Are Saying (2/21/25)
Weekly Texas rumors, exclusive scoops, and other things we're hearing.
Welcome to “Many People Are Saying,” our once a week paid-subscriber article where we feature rumors we’re hearing, inside gossip in the political world, and other interesting things going on in our great state of Texas.
This week:
A committee chairman squashed a bill honoring doctors that saved a fellow Rep’s life?
A Texas realtor is fired from her job for imitating Elon Musk!
A House rep has a rather large home located hours outside his district.
Did House Rep Jared Patterson Refuse to Honor the Doctor That Saved Shelley Luther’s Life?
Sources are telling us that Rep. Jared Patterson, Chairman of the Committee on Local & Consent Calendars, purposely squashed a resolution honoring the doctors that saved Rep. Shelley Luther’s life as well as a bill honoring grassroots activist Jill Glover.
Current Revolt was told that these resolutions were denied in the Committee on Local & Consent Calendars led by Rep. Jared Patterson. When half a dozen reps confronted Patterson about the denial, Patterson allegedly admitted that the denials were personal and based on social media squabbles.
We’re told tensions were very high in the meeting with Patterson. One member was expelled, and Rep. Shelley Luther left the meeting in frustration. Sources told us now that every bill on the Local & Consent agenda will be killed in retaliation for Patterson’s behavior while he’s chairman for that committee. Democrats have allegedly started moving their bills off Local & Consent because they’re aware their bills are going to get killed anyway.
Earlier this week several resolutions were introduced honoring Beyonce and the former president of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards…
Texas Realtor Loses Job For Mimicking Elon Musk Hand Gesture
Yessica Garza of San Antonio was fired from her job earlier this month when she posted a video on her social media account mimicking a “controversial” hand gesture from Elon Musk.
In San Antonio, Drinkable Bryan shared the video by Garza on Sunday, February 2 on Instagram, calling her out for her alleged Musk tie. In the video, Garza also used the clip of Musk performing the gesture. Drinkable Bryan questioned and criticized Garza's actions in his Instagram video, which has over 370,000 views and over 2,000 comments – many of which agreed with Bryan.
A social media influencer named “Drinkable Bryan” who has his gender pronouns listed on his Instagram profile, posted Garza’s video and seemingly encouraged his followers to contact her work, which eventually led to her firing.
Eventually Garza was able to secure a new job at a different brokerage, but social media users reached out to her new employer and got her fired from there as well.
We spoke to Garza, who gave us the following statement:
People were celebrating my firing on social media. RD Realty even made a public post about it, which is still pinned on their Instagram and Facebook pages. Then, the media got involved, and now there are at least five articles published about me, each painting a completely false narrative. San Antonio Express-News even included a history of Nazis in their article about me, as if that had anything to do with my situation. My career in real estate has been permanently destroyed. The real estate industry requires public licensing, so no matter where I go, these people will always find me. As long as their misinformation is out there, my name will always be attached to these lies. This is not something I can just move on from.
- Yessica Garza
Even the ADL, a normally left-leaning organization, said the move by Musk was mischaracterized and labeled it as just an “awkward gesture.”
