Frisco Mayor Candidate Says Illegals Are Coming in “like rats” After Being Busted Twice for Hiring Illegals
Frisco mayoral candidate Rod Vilhauer is facing scrutiny after his business faced federal enforcement actions for allegedly employing illegal aliens and then pretending to fire them, only to keep them on the payroll.
Plano-based Vilhauer Enterprises, an excavation company, is owned and operated by Frisco mayoral candidate Rod Vilhauer.
In 2015, Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE) audited Vilhauer’s company and issued a Notice of Suspect Documents for 113 employees with questionable paperwork. The company agreed to terminate the illegals and paid a $750 fine to settle the matter.
A 2018 follow-up inspection by ICE found that 71 of the roughly 109 supposedly fired workers remained on the payroll, often under new names. This prompted allegations that Vilhauer had pretended to fire the illegal workers only to continue employing them under different names.
In November 2019, the U.S. government filed a criminal forfeiture lawsuit in the Eastern District of Texas against Vilhauer Enterprises, seizing $1.8 million from company accounts as alleged proceeds from harboring undocumented immigrants. The suit sought nearly $2 million total.
No personal criminal charges were filed against Rod Vilhauer.
In a recorded podcast filmed just two weeks ago, Vilhauer said that illegals were coming in to the US like “rats” that are “getting in all kinds of ways.”:
Vilhauer, who is a Republican, has been endorsed by the Denton County Republican party for his run for mayor. The Collin County Republican party did not endorse Vilhauer.
Vilhauer is now seeking the endorsement of the Republican Party of Texas. The State Republican Executive Committee will vote this weekend whether to give Vilhauer that endorsement.
Below are the voting records for the Frisco mayoral candidates, including Vilhauer:
