Welcome to “Many People Are Saying,” our once a week paid-subscriber article where we feature rumors we’re hearing, inside gossip in the political world, and projects and pieces we’re working on that we haven’t published yet.

This week:

  • Another candidate throws their name in for Texas House Speaker!

  • A 21 year old candidate struggles with basic grammar.

  • A Democrat Chief of Staff laid off via iPhone after her boss loses!

  • Did the newly elected RPT chair already break a campaign promise?

Rep Shelby Slawson Announces Run for Texas House Speaker

After releasing an op-ed earlier this week discussing the failed attempt at impeaching Attorney General Ken Paxton, Rep. Slawson announced yesterday her run for Texas House Speaker.

With Rep. Slawson’s announcement, that now brings the House Speaker candidates to a total of three, including Rep. Phelan and Oliverson.

We ran a very scientific poll on our Twitter/X page, and it shows Rep. Oliverson in the lead, followed by Rep. Phelan.

What do you think? Biases aside, does Dade Phelan hold on to House Speaker or does someone else take it?

You can vote on the poll above here.
