Matthew Coday of Oil & Gas Workers Association is Being Sued
A defamation suit filed against Oil & Gas Workers Association (OGWA) president Matthew Coday alleges that the entire org is a “sham” and “slush fund” used to support Coday.
Matthew Coday is the president and founder of Oil & Gas Workers Association, a 501 (c)6 non profit lobbying organization.
Coday has used his title and organization’s name and appearance to secure meetings with several influential Republican politicians, organizations and president Donald Trump.
In a recent lawsuit filed by Ector County Hospital District Board Member Wallace Dunn, it is alleged that Coday defamed Dunn in a series of Facebook posts and messages. Dunn also alleges that OGWA is not following basic organizational protocol and is being used as a “paycheck” for Matthew Coday.
The lawsuit goes on to make the following accusations:
When Wallace was asked to be appointed to the OGWA board, he mentioned to Coday that it would be appropriate to be voted in by members. Despite this request Coday simply appointed him without vote.
Wallace requested basic documentation and financial records from Coday regarding OGWA, Coday never provided any such records.
Wallace was never able to locate any written record of structure for which OGWA engaged in work.
Wallace claims that Coday became upset with his attempts to fulfill his fiduciary duties as a board member and began to attack Wallace online claiming Wallace violated HIPAA laws.
These attacks on Wallace by Coday were while Wallace was serving as a board member for OGWA.
When Wallace reached out to Coday regarding the social media attacks, Coday referenced a two-hour long recorded conversation with former political candidate Tom Slocum
Coday continued to claim that multiple investigations were ongoing against Wallace despite there never being any. Additionally, Coday claimed Wallace had been guilty of domestic violence despite no conviction existing.
In a now deleted GiveSendGo, Coday sought donations for legal fees and repeated what Wallace says were lies about him.
The entire suit is worth a read and goes over alleged mishandling of the way OGWA is run:
