Frisco Political Consultant Allegedly Assaults City Council Candidate
On the first day of early voting, Lorie Medina, former chief of staff for the Mayor of Frisco and a local Frisco political consultant, slapped the phone out of the hands of Frisco City Council candidate Burt Thakr during a parking lot political debate.
Current Revolt spoke with voters in the area who told us that Thakr pressed charges and police were issuing a citation to Medina for a Class B misdemeanor.
Account of Continuous Violence Meaning
In Texas, a charge of continuous violence against the family, also known as "Rachel's Law," refers to two or more acts of domestic assault committed within a 12-month period. This charge can be brought even if the domestic violence incidents occurred in different counties within the state.
The law is designed to address the pattern of abuse that can occur within a family or household, including acts of physical, emotional, or other forms of abuse.
The alleged assaults do not need to have resulted in an arrest or conviction to be considered in the charge.
If convicted, the penalties can be severe and potentially life-changing.
