DUMB: Republicans File More Paperwork vs. Wheeled Tyrant Abbott
Texas Republicans continued their campaign of “failure on all fronts” today. They have failed to stop the spread of coronavirus, because stopping a cold virus from spreading is an impossibility once a certain percentage of the population is infected. Nevertheless, the party that tells one of their principles is “limited government” because government “can’t do things well” or whatever, is intent on using the government to manage the spread of a respiratory virus.
The second most holy principle of Republicans, after vague and arbitrary conceptions of a limited government, is the principle of infinity lawsuits. This virus situation is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
AUSTIN, Texas (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – Five Texas Republican lawmakers sued Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday over a $295 million contact tracing deal signed during the early months of the coronavirus pandemic.
The lawmakers say the contract skirted oversight and amounted to the governor exceeding his authority.
The lawmakers are among the most conservative in the state Legislature, and the lawsuit in a Travis County court broadly reflects ongoing anger from the Texas GOP’s far right over Abbott’s handling of the pandemic, including his orders in July to mandate face coverings that led to some county GOP groups censuring him.
Just so we are clear, Gregg Abbott is taking it upon himself to create an insane centralized computer tracking system to record the movements of every person in the state, recording everywhere they go and everyone they associate with, and they’re going to keep this information in a database. The pretext for this is a cold virus existing and killing 80-year-olds with pre existing conditions. Having concerns about this massive spy grid being built is now being labeled as “far right.”
Even the Dear Leader, Allen West is concerned.
KXAN:
Newly-elected Republican Party of Texas Chair Allen West told KXAN he’s “heavily concerned” with a $295 million contact tracing contract that the state awarded to a Frisco-base firm, without approval from the state legislature, which is now the source of a lawsuit facing Gov. Greg Abbott.
In an interview on Thursday, West, who opposed the statewide mask mandate to slow the spread of coronavirus, would not say whether rank-and-file Republicans have lost confidence in Abbott.
He did say, however, that “everyone” should be concerned with how the contract was awarded to MTX Group, Inc.
So even the Leader is “heavily concerned,” which is only one level below the ultimate mode of concern, deebly goncerned.
So what are Republicans doing to oppose Abbott’s “track everyone all the time right now” scheme? Filing lawsuits with lawyers of course. Stacks of paper with words on it is now our beacon of hope.
Even better is their legal reasoning, which consists of technicalities and disagreements over the specific scope of power given to Abbott under Virus Law.
I’m going to keep saying it as long as we keep seeing this stupidity. Our laws are now null and void. The laws that protected you for your entire life have been abolished. You cannot count on the legal system to be fair, just, or protect your fundamental rights.
Do you think BLM is getting what they want because of lawsuits?

Allen West is on record as opposing Abbott’s Virus Regime. Let’s support him in this effort until someone else steps up.
