Mysterious Website Appears Attacking Nate Schatzline
In the race for HD93, there are two choices. One of those is for establishment endorsed Laura Hill, who once promoted CRT.
The other is Nate Schatzline, who is endorsed by actual grassroots conservatives.
But on March 25th a page was registered that attempts to paint Schatzline as some sort of homophobe, extremeist, fascist, cult leader.
The page even goes on to claim that Schatzline’s wife is a “victim” of his extremism. Odd considering Mrs. Schatzline practices boxing in her free time.
It’s a very absurd website, clearly created by someone consuming way too much media and television, with bizzare photoshops of Nate Schatzline and his wife, and references to the television show The Handmaid’s Tale comparing Schatzline to a fascist from the show. For those unaware, the groups often associated with using Handmaid’s Tale references are the feminist left and the LGBTQ organizations.
Sources have reached out to us saying the person behind the attack is LGBTQ+ leader and Log Cabin Republican member, Jason Baldwin.
Sources close to Baldwin, who chose to remain unnamed, said Baldwin created the site and when people began naming Baldwin as the creator, he began making phone calls going on damage control.
The claims in the hit-site are odd, considering Schatzline has never attacked the LGBTQLMNOP+ groups or organizations. The site does seem to have the style of the “big tent” type of establishment Republicans. Schatzline’s opponent in this race, Laura Hill, is endorsed by LGBTQ ally, Dade Phelan.
We reached out to Baldwin for comment. Baldwin told us he was not associated nor did he create the web page. He said the site was similar to an attack page created against Betsy Price who he endorsed previously. Baldwin did confirm he has publicly endorsed Laura Hill but was not familiar with Hill’s support of CRT in the past. When asked about the 3-day long LGBTQ+ convention he attended, Baldwin responded that what he does in private is his own business and that he had no idea what the “+” was in LGBTQ+.
We have archived the website in the case it’s taken down. The archived version of the site can be found here.
