THIS WEEK:

  • Is Sid Miller Running Attack Ads Against His Former Republican Opponent?

  • Paxton’s Office Loses 35 Years of Open Records Rulings to MAINTENANCE 12 Days Before the Election

  • Sid Miller Sends Rambling Tirade To TX Agriculture Email List

Sid Miller Paid “American Potential” $90k. Now American Potential Is Attacking Nate Sheets.

A text message ad is making the rounds in Texas telling Republicans not to vote for Nate Sheets for Ag Commissioner:

Clicking the image shows it was paid for by “American Potential”

So who is American Potential?

According to state campaign finance data from TransparencyUSA, a payee called American Potential has been paid $90,000 by Sid Miller’s campaign:

Four payments came from Miller, all labeled “Advertising Expense”:

  • $50,000 on February 23, 2026

  • $10,000 on February 26, 2026

  • $20,000 on March 3, 2026

  • $10,000 on March 3, 2026

Now to be clear, there is no record showing Sid Miller paid for this ad. The data doesn’t say what the $90,000 to American Potential bought.

The data above also lists American Potential’s city as “Alxandria” (their spelling) with no state. There’s also a federal committee called “American Potential” that, per ProPublica, “only reports independent expenditures to the FEC.” Current Revolt has not confirmed it’s the same group.

Sid has posted aggressively against Nate Sheets as of late. On October 19th, Miller posted an essay on his own website telling voters to reject Sheets.

Miller also told the Texas Tribune he hasn’t endorsed in the Ag Commissioner race.

Sheets has called Miller “the most corrupt figure in Texas government.”

CR has covered Miller's post-primary turn before. Now there's an attack ad with a name on the bottom that Miller's campaign has written $90,000 in checks to.

Maybe it's a coincidence.

Current Revolt is constantly launching investigations on behalf of Texans. Here at our news desk, “launching an investigation” means opening a new browser tab. We’re good at what we do. So when a user on X put out the bat signal that a scam might be afoot…

I dislike the guy so I’m not in a place to judge this accurately: is the disappearance of years of Paxton opinions and rulings from a public searchable database just a bureaucratic webmaster incompetence thing, or is it like a *thing* thing?

@CurrentRevolt Oh, figured it out. The site that catalogs Paxton’s pre-2024 opinions and Open Records rulings went “down for maintenance” sometime after he launched his senate campaign, leaving years of rulings inaccessible through the public archive. I’m sure it’s nothing.

We opened our browser and started smashing. + + + + + +

Our investigation immediately found a situation rated at a lowercase lol: moderately amusing, and the site was in fact down.

The optics then started going downhill fast. Your browser warns you the Attorney General’s website might be trying to rob you:
