Texas State Republican Executive Committeewoman (SREC) for Senate District 20 Grace Jones was found dead in her home, murdered by her violent husband. The man had a history of domestic violence, and the couple was proceeding with a divorce.
At 11:07 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at Farm-to-market road 2044, in reference to a possible shooting.
According to Sheriff Daniel Bueno, upon arrival, officers came across the bodies of two deceased individuals: 44-year-old Jeremy Jones and his wife 35-year-old Elisabeth Grace Jones. Officials believe this to be a murder-suicide, as the couple was going through a divorce. It appears domestic violence had also been an ongoing issue.
Elisabeth suffered multiple gun shot wounds, according to the Jim Wells County Criminal Investigation Division.
This investigation is still ongoing.
Sheriff Bueno would like to encourage any individuals to please seek help if you are a victim of domestic violence.
Once news reached the Texas GOP’s Austin headquarters, the party released a statement featuring comments from State Chair Matt Rinaldi on this horrific tragedy.
Per the Texas GOP.
The Republican Party of Texas is distraught to learn of the tragic passing of Grace Jones. Grace served as the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) Woman for District 20, among many other positions.
Matt Rinaldi, Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, said, “Words are difficult to express the feelings we have at the moment. Our heart goes out to Grace’s family, especially to her three children still at home, who are now left parentless. The best option we have at this time is fervent prayer for peace that surpasses our understanding.”
Grace Jones was a conservative activist and mother of four children. She was active in Republican politics for over 7 years by serving in various paid and volunteer positions. In addition to running for local office herself, she managed or assisted with local campaigns and volunteered for multiple roles. She held numerous offices within her local TFRW Club, as well as TFRW District Director, TFRW Secretary, and an SREC member. She was also the Jim Wells County Treasurer. Grace was a State Delegate in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022. In 2020, she was Caucus Chair for the convention.
Mrs. Jones was liked and loved by many, and she will truly be missed by all, whether party officials, or local political laity. Our prayers and condolences go out to her four children.
If you are victim of domestic violence or dealing with someone who has violent tendencies, please seek out help from law enforcement as soon as possible.
Such tragic news! So sad to learn of this horrible happening! My prayers are for those children left behind and for all others who suffer abuse from their partner or spouse.
These are trying times for many . Sad that their children are now parentless.
