Texas Right to Life’s general counsel, Emily Cook, is attempting to intimidate and suppress the First Amendment right of Current Revolt, a very legitimate press organization. Clearly our use of their name and logo is fair use to report on the activities of the organization. TRTL’s threat of litigation is an attempt to intimidate us from covering relevant news of their organization.
It is sad that TRTL even had time to send threatening letters to a conservative media outlet. This act shows how far Texas Right to Life has fallen since they dismissed Jim Graham, a proven pro-life stalwart and actual first amendment warrior. Maybe if Cook would have been more diligent in her duties of in-house advising, Texas Right to Life wouldn’t be facing a lawsuit from Elizabeth Graham, another pro-life icon, and a majority of their largest donors.
Sources close the ongoing drama surrounding the Rich DeOtte departure allege that immediately after ousting the Grahams from the organization, DeOtte authorized raises for all employees at Texas Right to Life to curry their favor. Meanwhile, the development director left under suspicious circumstances.
We’ve replaced the logo with something far more appropriate (see top of page). We imagine they might be regretting their request.
Very embarrassing for Texas Right to Life!
As usual, you guys are on point. Thanks!
