TX Dems Break Tradition by Running Normal Looking Person for Gov
They might be on to something...
Another election year another Democrat challenger for Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
For those keeping score, this is the second BBL to try and dethrone Abbott.
The first was Lupe Valdez, who, in 2018, lost to Abbott by 13 points, despite only raising around $2 million dollars.
Democrats then tried running a white man named Beto O’Rourke who raised around $80 million dollars, (3900% more than Lupe Valdez) but lost to Abbott by 11 points.
Democrats seemed to have noticed that a Latina on the ticket can do more, with less money, so now they’re running a surprisingly normal looking woman named Gina Hinojosa.
Running a normal-looking, straight person is quite a different approach as Democrats across the country seem keen on running transgenders for high profile offices. It’s possible Texas Democrats are paving the way for new territory in normalcy in the party.
Hinojosa’s speech yesterday announcing her run for Texas governor included leading a room of white people in a chant in Spanish.

Hinojosa spoke on TX Capital Tonight yesterday evening criticizing Abbott for being beholden to hyper-wealthy people, though Hinojosa herself seems to be beholden to big pharma and scams.
Hinojosa, who is twice vaccinated, lead a “Get Out the Vaccine” phonebank to convince Texans who are vulnerable to scams to inject themselves with the COVID vaccine.
Hinojosa at one point expressed disappointment with her fellow Latinos for not falling for the vax scam:
Despite all of this, it seems Dems really did throw the best they could do as far as “normal” for a run against Abbott and his $87M warchest.
If Hinojosa can perform at the same dollar-to-vote ratio that Lupe Valdez did in 2018, she may actually give Abbott a run for his money.
