2020 Lockdowner Amongst Crowded Field in CD 26
Questions about a candidate’s past are swirling.
Like a rat fleeing a sinking ship, moderate-Republican incumbent Michael Burgess is retiring from Congress after 20 years of representing Texas in US House District 26. A crowded field of 11 candidates will face off in Super Tuesday’s Republican primary with the hopes of filling the vacancy left by Burgess.
One of those is the Mayor of Southlake, John Huffman.
Earlier this month, Dallas Express reported on Huffman’s old political baggage where he apparently attended a BLM protest in 2020.
Huffman, who previously served on the Southlake City Council, attended a purported Black Lives Matter (BLM) protest in 2020 following the killing of George Floyd. He was photographed at the event by a Community Impact reporter. Photos from the days surrounding the demonstration show boarded-up businesses at Southlake Town Square, where pro-BLM residents and city officials gathered, some of whom held signs condemning the police.
Less than three months prior to the protests, Huffman went along with lockdowns in Southlake due to COVID.
The BLM protests of 2020 were highly inflammatory, not only because of the damage they caused to life and property, but because many found their government officials to be hypocritical in supporting these public protests while also forcing small businesses to close or adopt insane virus rules.
Even if you overlook the Covid response, attending a George Floyd rally is simply beyond the pale.
Let us know in the comments: Do you think John Huffman a staunch conservative, a “RINO,” or just a current-thing follower?
He's just a weakling, pure and simple, and will sell out his constituency at the first opportunity if elected.
Let’s go Brandon Gill!
