As for the runoff, if Texas conservatives continue their apathetic ways, Cornyn will win it. Almost no one votes in runoffs, at least on the Republican side. Thanks to our governor, and other Uniparty types, Democrats will be able to vote in OUR primary. They have done it before and will continue to unless Abbott and the rest are reigned in. The Dems vote for the most left-leaning Republican on the ballot (in this case, Cornyn) to add to the left-leaning Republican votes. The conservative gets most of the vote but loses anyway because of Democrat interference. Until something is done about Texas's Uniparty, our only hope is that EVERYONE gets out and votes for the conservative in the runoff. If we don't turn out in record-breaking numbers, Cornyn will win. The Dems and Establishment Republicans will see to it. Spread the word far and wide. Calling ALL Texas conservatives: VOTE IN THE MAY 26TH RUNOFF!!
Cornyn will win because Trump is already signaling an endorsement. He may surprise me but following his pattern here in Texas, for some reason he want all the mf RINOS to keep their seats.
I voted for Doc Chambers and I don't care for Kool-Aid. Anytime I read anything online, I take a good look at who wrote it. Anybody can post anything. They may or may not know what they're talking about. Some are crazy, & some liars. So I always look at the source.
I never dreamed in a million years that Chambers had a snowball's chance of winning the governor's race. Whether or not a man chooses to dress in cowboy attire means nothing to me.
I loathe Greg Abbott. He is a terrible,Uniparty governor. He lives in the pockets of his donors. He is a RINO. His latest insult to Texas is fighting the closed primary effort supported by grassroots conservatives. He is part of the cabal that will do anything to keep Texas from being led by us grassroots, know-nothing simpletons.
If Republican primaries are cut off from Democrats, who infiltrate our runoffs and vote for the farthest-left Republican, Texas would become a truly red state instead of a purple one. But he has most Texas conservatives snookered into believing that he's a standup conservative. His record shows otherwise. Until something opens their eyes, we are stuck with him and all the damage he has done and will do.
The vote for Chambers was simply a protest vote, nothing more. There may be some naive voters who really thought Chambers had a chance, but most of us knew he didn't. We voted for Chambers because we know what Abbott is, and a vote for the latter is literally nauseating.
I think there are maybe ten people in all of state/federal politics I can name who I think are righteous people looking to serve first and keep their job second. I'm decently sure Doc would have been one of those people.
I knew after Huffines/West/Prather were crushed last time that there was no hope for Pete. Fine. I cast my irrelevant vote into the abyss for Doc. He certainly deserved it more than shameless Greg Abbott.
Doc is one of the very few people who behaved righteously during covid and paid a price for it. A good man tried to do a good thing. That's more than I can say about almost any of the other races. Current Revolt seems too focused on his RV and his cowboy hat to acknowledge so.
I knew that Doc wouldn't even come close. But I wanted to see how many people would do the protest-vote. And, since I did not vote for Abbott, my lunch stayed down.
Greg can win without my help in the general. I will never vote for the man. I have never in my life voted Dem, but I am tempted to vote for a Dem against Greg; I find him so disgusting.
I feel that way about pretty much all of them especially that pinch-nosed Dan Patrick with his smarmy smile. Middleton or Roy. Same thing so really there is no purpose to voting in November. I am sure all the lost votes will be added in electronically thru a backdoor. Those are the tallies I would like to see. How many stay home.
I'm not that disgusted, but I am disgusted. I will NEVER vote for him for any office in any primary, and I emailed his office and told him so. I can't stand him. Getting stabbed in the back is not my cup of tea and I'm getting tired of it. And who knows what else he's done that we know nothing about??
Greg enabled the forced covid injections. Greg signed a fake EO and destroyed the push for a covid vaxx mandate law when it mattered. He signed a vaxx mandate law 4 years later, when it was irrelevant. No other politician on the ballot currently forced my entire family to risk our livelihood to avoid poison.
It's been decades of corrupt hack liars like Abbott running the party. 85% of Republican voters, in what is supposed to be a conservative state, said they like the status quo yesterday. "Our people" are dupes. "Our media" are liars. There is no money to be made in righteous politics and the people/party can't even define "righteous" anymore. I chose to not be a part of any election that pushes the Republican clown show forward. I'm done with the "lesser evil" crap. They can be righteous or they can carry on without me. Que Sera Sera.
That's because 85% of Republicans have no idea what goes on under their noses and behind their backs. They assume that the Party can be trusted. Big mistake.
Something to keep in mind: I see comments on social media from time to time bashing elected Republicans because they are spineless and don't do anything. I happen to agree. But what I tell them is that they are a reflection of us. We don't get involved, we risk nothing, and we think we are stand-out citizens because we drive a couple of miles from our homes and vote every few years. Consequently, our representatives-if you want to call them that-make sure they get along with everybody and make some money. The only way to light a fire under them is for us to light a fire under ourselves. Conservatives don't like heat.
I used to help run my local Tea Party. I had a guy who would call me every so often and tell me everything that we were doing wrong. I resented it because he never did anything. He attended nothing, helped with nothing, never donated, nothing except calling me and giving me his expert advice. After so many of these calls, I asked him one day, "What are you doing?" Answer: "Well, I email my congressman." And he was serious! No wonder the Republican Party is like it is! He finally gave up, but a few years later I saw him at one of our fundraisers, and I said, "Well, you finally came to one." He told me that someone else paid for his ticket. I guess we didn't deserve his money because we couldn't do anything right, but he enjoyed his free meal and our outstanding speaker just the same.
He very much reminded me of Roosevelt's The Man in the Arena.
I, too, am fed up with holding my nose and voting for these jerks. The only thing we can do is hold out for the good ones and support them when they run.
Don't rely on the accuracy of those electronic votes. I strongly believe this election was stolen from many and the huge winning percentages just stink to high heaven or should I say high corruption..
That focus is to belittle the candidates and it is backfiring, Tony. As well as your shots at the influencers. One could almost think you were jealous of their influence
All we need to know is that the Republican voters of Texas punished zero politicians post covid and everything else makes sense. Voters were locked down, force injected with poison, had their faces covered, had their businesses destroyed and they said "Give me more of that!" Why? Because the TV said so.
Forget about the personalities or the campaigns this cycle. Generally speaking, Republican voters are garbage and the older generation of voters in particular is especially garbage. They have no desire, ability or willingness to discern truth. Literal yard signs, post cards and 40 second TV ads are determining the outcomes of these races. What more do you need to know? The process is a joke. Voters have voted for the same slop and the same lies for the last ~60 years. Big money will purchase their votes next time too.
The TPUSA endorsement of Abbott was indefensible. They defended their endorsement by saying "Doc had no chance." I agree, Doc had no chance, because of the above. But am I supposed to look to TPUSA for guidance on who is the best candidate, or are they going to guide me on who is the most corpo/funded candidate? TPUSA wanted to stay in the good graces of the winner, Greg, so they said FU to the voters looking for voting guidance. Simple as that; the organization is a fraud.
My interpretation of the Senate race is that Paxton won. Paxton spent under $5 million. Cornyn, the entrenched incumbent, spent $100 million. Yes, Paxton lost, but by only 1.2% of the vote, which is phenomenal. Cornyn should have walked away by at least 8 points. But despite all the lies and dollars, he's in a runoff. The Uniparty despises Paxton as they do all MAGAs. Hunt was asked to run in the race as a spoiler to defeat Paxton. But according to some of Cornyn's ads, it might have gone the other way. I think that if Hunt had stayed out of the race, Paxton would have won. Maybe not at 51%, but yes, I think he might have pulled it off.
You know what Tony your denigration of middle aged white women for supporting Doc is a bit sleazy. The fact that your paper of record has glossed over the vote fraud that happens in every election is a bit concerning as to your priorities. None of your assessments bear in mind that the election was more than likely rigged yet again and as to your taking potshots at many of the influencers that are actually exposing the sellout of Texas by those the voters (or rigged machines) sent back to Austin is shameful . You show a distinct disconnect from many rank and file conservative voters like myself and talk like we have little or no brains compared to the more 'enlightened' Libertarianoid mindset. We worked hard to get the Swamp drained in Texas and cut off the Islamic conquest taking place here in the New Mecca. This is a battle that , imo, will cost the GOP in Texas a major setback in November and Trump may be in for a rude awakening as well unless of course Mr Garcia at Hart Intercivic comes thru for them in November. I had prepared myself for this exact outcome and it is definitely a bitter pill that I won't be swallowing again in November. This is the new silent non voter base forming after all "What difference does it make?"
I like Brock's vibe—many people were hoping the insurrection was real—but the line in his plan to "Cease all foreign aid except for key allies as determined by Trump" made me kek
Pete "Doc" Chambers achieved a double-digit share of the vote. The naysayers were saying he couldn't do it, and I believed them. Did almost as well as Huffines with his megamillions. Also, a schizophrenic and homosexual man came in fourth just by having a Hispanic name.
If we had primaries in the August/September time frame, Abbott would have most definitely at least had a runoff in 2022. But the system is rigged so that upstarts have almost zero chance of gaining momentum, with Ted Cruz being the exception in 2012.Also in 2022 the democrats ran BETO against Abbott, so that was a rallying cry to primary voters to go with what you know since we have to always "beat the democrats".
Completely IGNORED the impact that $625k in shadowPAC money had on several races, especially Collin County. Do better and consider all the data...or lose more credibility Tony. Talk about being in a bubble...
That pic of Larry Brook is the best. I can see what Abraham “Mumbai” George saw in him.
Thank you for this Reporting Tony.
This article made me realize I was far deeper into my far-right info-bubble than I thought.
I did think Chambers had a chance. I thought Paxton would do better.
I will work smarter and harder in May to get war-monger Cornyn fired.
At least we got rid of Traitor for Israel EyePatch McCain.
Except Toth has "defend our allies like Israel" on his issues page. https://images7.memedroid.com/images/UPLOADED904/5eba8fa124fae.jpeg

I'm inclined to agree with you. If he decides to colossally betray MAGA, he will lose much support, including mine.
Color me as someone who drank the social media kool aid. Lesson learned.

Yeah All my votes were protest votes. I never even heard the guy speak . You said it like it is!
Well said! I'll take my kool-aid with a red pill please!

Oh great. Abbott is now pivoting into the Trump thing; grug-tier Blow-Harding opposite from reality.
The May runoff is going to be Hilarious.
