Today kicks off the 2022 Texas State Republican Convention.
This event is where around 8,000 delegates from all over Texas will come together to vote on the Republican Party’s platform and planks.
One of the things being pushed for this year is closing our primaries. Closing our primaries will prevent Democrats from crossing over and voting in our elections. It arguably happens a lot, and when local races are won by less than 200 votes, Democrats absolutely have the power to sway a weaker Republican into office.
Establishment Republicans absolutely do not want this. People like George P Bush, John Cornyn, and other leftist Republicans benefit from having Democrats cross over because they secure the Democrat vote.
Furthermore, there’s quite a lot of Democrats that know they can garner both Democrat and leftist-Republican support by running in GOP races.
We’ve put together a list of previous articles we’ve published on this issue.
Delegates must vote to close our primaries and stop Texas from going blue.
Should really be the highest priority for convention, besides the election of Alexandria Stein to Vice Chair. 🔥🔥🔥
We can’t address any of the peoples priorities if we get thwarted by Democrats and RINOs when trying to elect representatives who are actually willing to stand up and fight.
This is also an issue in local politics. My county has had to accept applications from Democrats and left leaning Republicans on our Primary ballot for the last 12 years. Yes, all the officeholders identify as Republican, but none of them move our principles and agenda further when they govern as Democrats and RINOS! We must have Closed Primaries as a priority! Unfortunately, I am not expecting our left leaning Republican Houes and Senate majority to honor the grassroots!
