Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson, Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, posted the video above on X showing a four year old girl who was smuggled across the American border in order to meet with her mother in South Carolina.
The young girl was found carrying a piece that had a phone number and name written on it. NewsNation national correspondent, Jorge Ventura, called the number on the note.
211 illegal immigrants were encountered yesterday in Maverick County. According to Olivarez, 60 of those were unaccompanied children between the ages of 2 and 17.
Jorge Ventura also posted the following video showing 200 illegal migrants crossing just yesterday morning.
The promise to deport illegal migrants who have crossed into our state is one long given by the Trump administration. Although stories like the one above, where a child is separated from their parents or forced to go back to the country where they came, could eventually sway popular opinion to be soft on deportations.
The Trump administration will have to overcome people’s emotions against deporting children. If these are not overcome, it could mean mean that the families will not be deported and nothing will actually happen.
The means by which these children smuggled across the border have acquired American life was acquired illegally and is especially insulting to those who have worked hard and paid a lot of money to acquire status or citizenship through proper means.
Trump voters calling for deportations of illegals is one thing; whether they can stomach seeing videos of children and families actually being deported is yet to be seen.
