Glenn Rogers Smear Continues - Now Accused of Cheating in the Election!
They’re making an example out of him.
For 3 years—1,148 days to be exact—he went along with every scam.
Republican State Rep. Glenn Rogers went along with every single one of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s scams.
Every scam, except one.
Glenn Rogers opposed Greg Abbott’s plans to pass a “school choice” aka “school voucher” bill, an agenda that has never had serious enthusiasm in the Republican Party of Texas, but which has also never had serious opposition.
Running low on scams to distract voters, Abbott and others decided that it was time to pass “school choice.” The plan was perfect—Dade Phelan said before the session that school choice had no hard definition, with the implication being that any bill passed called “school choice” would be a political victory.
Well, school choice didn’t pass. Instead of trying to convince people of his plan, Abbott has been leading the charge to destroy a small group of Republican House members who oppose him on this single issue.
Glenn Rogers didn’t just lose his election, he had his teeth kicked in. Now, Texas Scorecard is farting on his grave.
A recently unearthed newsletter from last fall appears to confirm that outgoing State Rep. Glenn Rogers of Graford worked with school district officials to engage in electioneering prior to the March 5 Republican primary.
The article was obtained by Texas Scorecard through an open records request to Garner Independent School District. It was included in the Fall 2023 issue of the district’s news mailer, which is distributed to parents and school faculty.
You can see in the source article that Texas Scorecard got this email after the March 5th election.
Glenn Rogers lost his election so badly that his kids will probably be bullied until they die, but you know what? F that MF’er. He opposed school choice! Why did he oppose school choice? Well, why does anyone oppose school choice?
Simple—they are evil and want to harm everyone. Especially you.
That’s a joke, obviously.
Texas Scorecard previously reported on text messages provided via an open records request to Breckenridge ISD showing Rogers sharing an almost identical article with school administrators in an iMessage group chat.
In those leaked messages, one school administrator—presumably with Garner ISD—alluded to a version of Rogers’ article that was published in the newsletter.
The version Rogers shared in the 14-member group chat was published online in the Palo Pinto Press under the title “Vouchers are not conservative,” while the Garner ISD version was titled “Why I Oppose School Vouchers?”
Rogers was talking to people about the issue and trying to convince them of his views. He is the current sitting representative— hardly comparable to stories like this recent electioneering example where the superintendent was telling subordinates how to vote in every race.
The school shouldn’t do this, obviously. But why are they still kicking poor Glenn Rogers? Is someone trying to send a message by lighting him up over a 6-month-old newsletter as an electioneering bombshell when the guy just got crushed in the primary by 24 points?
Is this retaliation for Rogers’ feisty op-ed published after his loss?
First, I want to thank my supporters, those who voted for me and those who supported me prayerfully, financially, and in so many other ways. It has been the greatest honor to serve this district.
The corruption that exists at the highest level of Texas state government would have made Governor “Pa” Ferguson blush.
Governor Greg Abbott has defiled the Office of Governor by creating and repeating blatant lies about me and my House colleagues, those who took a stand for our public schools. I stood by the Governor on all his legislative priorities but just one, school vouchers. For just one disagreement, and for a $6 million check from Jeff Yass, a Pennsylvanian TikTok investor, and voucher vendor, Abbott went scorched earth against rural Texas and the Representatives who did their jobs-representing their districts.
Everything always seems to trace back to TikTok these days.
Anyways, Rogers ended his letter with a conspiracy theory.
History will prove that our current state government is the most corrupt ever and is “bought” by a few radical dominionist billionaires seeking to destroy public education, privatize our public schools and create a Theocracy that is both un-American and un-Texan.
I don’t really believe any of that to be true. Although, when I look at the future paths Texas can take and I have to choose between either Gay Third World Communism or Christian Nationalist Theocracy, that is not a hard choice for me, and probably won’t be for most people.
Someone Better Explain School Choice
First of all, I don’t care about Glenn Rogers. I like how he fought back against Mike Olcott in the primary, but when I first read his op-ed I thought he sounded like a cry baby. In fact, many people were saying this.
If you support Abbott’s amorphous school choice agenda, then you can either continue to destroy people and buy elections until the cows come home, or you can explain what the heck it is you are doing.
Not only can nobody explain what “school choice” means, but no voters are asking for it. It’s entirely astroturfed. No voters are sitting around thinking about how to get other people’s kids into new schools. It’s audacious, it’s preposterous, but hey—that’s Texas politics.
I have no idea what kind of school choice Mike Olcott has promised voters, but it better be good.
School choice is about government access to all kids. Parents already have a “choice”. A choice between public (governmental) or private/homeschool (non-governmental) education for their children.
Republicans have been brainwashed to believe this will solve all the problems in public education, many which were caused by the government. But yet here they are begging for government involvement in their private and homeschools.
Texans need to wake up and see this is a Trojan horse with creeping legislation. It never starts out corrupted but ends up that way with more legislation and control. What happens when the kids don’t meet the achievement standards? Who will be held accountable? The private schools and the homeschools will “need” guidance because the kids are not achieving. Meanwhile they have starved and killed our public schools requiring more “help”. Where does it end?
UNESCO would love to see the government involved in ALL education. Is this is something Abbott heard through the WEF? Perhaps that’s why he’s changed his mind on this matter and is so determined to ram it down Texans’ throats. Wake up Texas!
Did Rogers vote to impeach Paxton? If yes I think that had more to do with the election results. I know it did with Reggie Smith.
