Flock Revolt VI: Irving Has 944,200 Flock Emails. Want Them? $70,812.
Forney isn’t the most expensive city on our Flock scoreboard anymore.
A reader filed our Flock request with Irving, and Irving wants $70,812, just for its emails with Flock!
The city says it found 944,200 of them since 2022. That’s more than three for every person in Irving!
To find out how Flock works with your city, you have to cover a city employee’s entire salary.
That’s a neat workaround for open records laws, isn’t it? Muddy the water with an email every two and a half minutes and make real public inspection impossible. Very cool, Texas. Very cool, Flock.
Sanctuary City Colleyville Goes Quiet as Lufkin’s Flock Cop Heads to Prison
Speaking of withholding things, Sanctuary City Colleyville still won’t say who turned off immigration searches on its cameras.
On Aug. 19, Colleyville’s Flock account switched on a search policy called “Immigration Enforcement,” filed under Police Chief Michael Miller’s name.
One setting was enabled and another setting was disabled, and just like that, the precious illegal aliens of Colleyville were safe from immigration searches. We asked about it before our story ran Tuesday. No answer then and no answer since.
Immigration searches looking for wanted aliens in Colleyville’s Flock cameras dropped to zero after the change, according to data reviewed by Current Revolt.
Senate Bill 4, Texas’s 2017 sanctuary ban, says a city may not “adopt, enforce, or endorse a policy under which the entity or department prohibits or materially limits the enforcement of immigration laws.”
Block immigration searches on your city’s cameras? Even block your own officers from searching for illegal aliens? We’re calling that a sanctuary city.
Meanwhile, in Lufkin, ex-cop Zachary Klein got five years in the clink after pleading guilty to “misusing official information.”
WELL WELL WELL…
Former Lufkin police officer Zachary Anthony Klein was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to misusing official information tied to his use of the department’s Flock camera system to track vehicles belonging to 11 people.
…
The Texas Rangers investigation found Klein used Flock for more than 25,000 license plate inquiries for purposes unrelated to law enforcement, according to the district attorney’s office.
Lufkin’s police chief called it “a lapse in judgement.”
LOL, 25,000 lapses.
How’d the little rascal get caught? Open records requests. USA TODAY read Flock audit logs agencies released back when their audit logs still showed who searched. They found Klein and asked Lufkin police about him Aug. 14. Six days later he was in jail.
Back to Colleyville. Last December, Flock killed the kind of log that caught Klein. The excuse, from its email to Colleyville’s chief: “We cannot let those abusing our transparency compromise officer safety and the safety of our community.”
Guess the transparency was working a little too well!
To show you how this works: Colleyville’s in-house audit still names its own cops.
Everyone else searching its cameras? Three asterisks.
Of 4.4 million searches that included Colleyville’s cameras from March to August, the city can name the cop in 0.07%. Lufkin PD shows up thousands of times. Every name: ***.
If a guy like Klein swept Colleyville’s cameras 18,000 times, the city would see Lufkin PD 18,000 times. Never him.
Our open questions to Colleyville:
Who decided to block immigration searches, and is it still on?
Has the city attorney checked it against Senate Bill 4?
Did Mayor Bobby Lindamood or the council know?
Irving offered our reader a discounted fee to skip some emails in their records request. Colleyville skips immigration searches for free!
Colleyville, our inbox is open: tips@currentrevolt.com. Everyone else, keep filing. It’s how Klein got caught.
Republican Candidate David Flores Calls Police Niggas and Pigs
Matt Angle over at Lone Star Project (LSP) published dashcam footage of Republican Candidate for HD144 David Flores trying to get out of a ticket by name dropping Governor Greg Abbott and Rep. Briscoe Cain. Flores also calls the police “fucking pigs” and “shitass niggas”.
According to LSP’s reporting, Flores was pulled over for a DWI.
Abbott had endorsed Flores but pulled the endorsement yesterday after the video made news:

Crockett Still Butthurt, Not Backing Talarico
With around a month left till November 3rd, Rep. Jasmine “Jar Jar” Crockett appears still butthurt over her Democratic primary loss to James Talarico in March. Days ago, it was revealed Crockett refused to put Talarico on her endorsement list, which includes allegedly insane Tarrant County Commissioner Alisa Simmons.
