There have been multiple updates in the impeachment proceedings against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The most noteworthy of these was a comment from Lt. Governor Dan Patrick saying Paxton’s impeachment trial is “not a criminal trial… not a civil trial. It’s a political trial..”
During the 2022 Primary Elections, more Republican votes were cast for Ken Paxton than for Greg Abbott, nevertheless Paxton continues to find himself under fire from Democrats and some fellow Republicans.
The Texas Tribune recently published a lengthy update on the Paxton impeachment. Centering around the new accusations appear to be some kind of travertine in a kitchen remodel, as well as breaking the Terms of Service for Uber’s ride share service. We have summarized the article to help get you up to speed.
In new allegations revealed Wednesday
…
The subterfuge allegedly included Paxton and Paul creating an Uber account
….
Paxton … $122,000 payment … home renovations…
…
shed new light on the relationship between Paul and Paxton…
…
Paul was arrested in June on federal felony charges of lying to financial institutions…
…
Paxton… using a burner phone and secret email accounts…
“Burner” phone and “secret” email accounts? Is this the same thing as a gmail account and a regular cell phone?
…Paxton was accused of issuing a legal opinion… at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 …
The opinion, which Paxton allegedly edited himself, was published at 1 a.m. Aug. 2, 2020, and said foreclosure proceedings posed a public health threat…
“It is hard to imagine a more blatant abuse of Paxton’s office,” House managers wrote.
…
Paxton’s lawyers also attacked … saying there was no evidence
…
“Impeachable offenses need not be indictable crimes,” the House team argued. “Impeachment in Texas seeks to protect against conduct that undermines the integrity of the office, disregards constitutional duties and oaths of office, abuses government process and power, and adversely impacts the system of government.”
…
More broadly, the managers emphasized that the impeachment trial is not a criminal or civil proceeding…
“It’s not a criminal trial. It’s not a civil trial. It’s a political trial,” [Lt. Governor Dan] Patrick told the Fox affiliate in Houston.
…
“A person can be impeached without an indictment, therefore Paxton does not have any right to demand more details,” the managers said.
It’s a political trial, you see.
A “political trial” means the standard rules and proceedings you equate with a trial in America are not applicable. Paxton is not promised the right to cross examine, present evidence, call witnesses, and things of this nature. This is because there is no crime and no concrete charges. When you get down to it, it’s all vague political accusations like “dereliction of duty.”
However, the general public is not very smart, and they do not understand this. They see “trial” and they assume there are criminal allegations.
The question of the trial is now the same question answered by voters less than 1 year ago. “Do you think this person [Ken Paxton] is suited to do the job as AG?” or in other words, “Do you vote for Ken Paxton for Attorney General, or someone else?” The Texas House answered this question with their impeachment vote. Now, the Senate will tell us “do you vote for Ken Paxton, politically?”
What do the voters think?
The Star-Telegram did a Tarrant County politician response article where various politicians weighed in on the Paxton impeachment. I decided to look at what voters were saying about the impeachment in the most Republican District in Tarrant County, HD 98, where Republican Giovanni Capriglione beat the Democrat in the General Election by 33 points.
Since there has been strong evidence that some of Ken Paxton’s online support included paid promotion on X without any kind of disclosure, I went to Facebook to see what voters were saying to their representatives.
I Cross Referenced People I Could Identify With Voter Data From the Texas Democratic Party
While reading the comments, one comment caught my eye.
My first thought was “lol.” My second thought was “lol, really?”
I decided to look into this using our access to the Democrat Party’s voting data, which they just throw out there for anyone to use.
(Democrats really do practice what the preach, they want voting data to be as easily available as possible because it is very conducive to their decentralized election cheating scheme they have been doing since 2020.)
I cross referenced voting data to comments on a post after the impeachment vote, and in the vast majority of cases it was very easy to figure out if the commented was a Republican or Democrat voter. A few of the people with strong opinions were not even voters at all despite being registered. Republican and Democrat voters are labeled as such.
Here’s what I found:
Notice the last comment. This person believes Paxton will go to jail after at the end of this “political trial.” This is the most common type of negative comment you will see under a media article about the impeachment.
The parallels with what is being done to Trump and Paxton using the media in tandem with politicians and idiots within the general public are quite numerous. Certain factions within the Republican Party are trying to use the public’s stupidity as a bludgeon to disenfranchise the conservative right wing in Texas. At this point, we are in an information war.
On a positive note; it is actually starting to look like we may have new leaders rising up against the GOP establishment’s corruption. More on this soon.
I guess we’ll see how this plays out.
So the U.S. Democrat Party has had their opposition party leader arrested and the Texas Democrats, in-league with TXGOP leadership have had the top Right-wing champion being dragged through a political trial...rough times ahead for Americans and Texans.
According to your previous article regarding Michael Quinn Sullivan paying people to make comments on social media, Jonathan Sticklands threat with Dunns war chest, targeting everyone who wants to uphold the law, and making the false claim that Paxton didnt have the opportunity to present his evidence when he was asked to do so and he refused, Why would we take all these manufactured comments seriously? https://www.texasscorecard.co/
