LUCA President Admits $10k Donation Before Burrows Endorsement

Audio leaked following LUCA’s endorsement of Burrows raises questions.

In leaked audio obtained by Current Revolt, a woman identified as Melinda Ann, President of Latinos United for Conservative Action (LUCA), says that Representative Dustin Burrows previously gave the organization $10,000 and said Burrows would be “working hard to do what he needs to do to ensure LUCA gets the help (they) need.” The revelation comes after LUCA formally endorsed Burrows in the race for Texas House Speaker, leading to over a dozen members of the conservative activist group resigning in protest.

LUCA, an organization that has previously been relatively quiet, made headlines when they endorsed Dustin Burrows for Texas House Speaker after LUCA’s CEO told members privately that LUCA was staying out of the race entirely, appearing to instruct members to distance LUCA from the David Cook for Speaker campaign.

The group did not stay out of the race for long, and the Burrows endorsement set off a firestorm of replies from angry Texans.

At least thirteen of LUCA’s Texas members resigned in protest of the endorsement.

Tarrant County GOP Chairman Bo French would later post on X that LUCA cut a deal for the endorsement. LUCA President Melinda Ann threatened to sue French.

We reached out to Melinda Ann to confirm she hadn’t been promised money from the House Speaker candidates, she later stopped responding when we asked for more clarification.

We attempted to reach out to Melinda Ann via text and phone call, despite continuing to actively post on X, she never returned our messages.

Looks like Bo French got the last laugh.
