Dallas GOP Officially Refuses to Turn Over Requested Documents

Over a month after Current Revolt (CR) requested the ballot applications for Republican candidates in the HD112 race, the Dallas GOP told Current Revolt it is refusing to turn over the documents.

Incumbent Representative Angie Chen Button, faces three other Republican primary opponents in the race for HD112:

On December 17th, Current Revolt requested a copy of the ballot applications for all candidates involved in the Republican HD112 race. This was triggered by a tip that one or more ballot applications were improperly completed but were not invalidated by the Dallas GOP as should be required.

After sending the Dallas GOP seven follow up emails requesting the applications and receiving no response, Current Revolt called the Dallas GOP headquarters and informed them that we would be visiting their office to pick up the applications in person. The volunteer promptly hung up on us.

Tony Ortiz from Current Revolt visited the offices, the door was locked, and the new executive director, Anne Slagel, would only talk to Ortiz behind the locked door. After brief discussion, Slagel finally opened the door and eventually said she would turn over the documents.

Later that evening, the Dallas GOP Facebook page would post the following on their wall stating that Ortiz was “rude, demeaning, and demanding” and that the staff felt Ortiz was “bullying” them. The Facebook post was signed as “the new Executive Director of the Republican Party of Dallas County.”:

Current Revolt would respond by posting a full video of the interaction with new Executive Director Slagel which showed that Ortiz was not rude, demeaning, or bullying towards Slagel or the volunteers:

After Current Revolt posted the video, the Dallas GOP deleted the Facebook post about Ortiz. Ortiz later spoke to Slagel who stated she had no idea about the Facebook post and that she did not write it. Slagel then reaffirmed that she would turn over the ballot applications as requested.

Yesterday, CR emailed Slagel to follow up on the outstanding documents and received the following response:

Slagel claimed that candidates signed a “confidentially form” that prevents their applications from being shared.

CR followed up by asking for a blank copy of the form. Slagel provided the following response stating she couldn’t find a copy of the form and that she was simply relaying information given to her.

Current Revolt reached out to Representative Angie Chen Button who confirmed she did not sign a confidentially agreement. Current Revolt’s original request for ballot application included Rep. Button’s. So why did the Dallas GOP say they couldn’t share Rep. Button’s due to an agreement that Rep. Button confirmed she never signed?

Current Revolt also spoke to another person connected to a Dallas GOP candidate who confirmed they did not sign any sort of confidentiality agreement in their ballot application.

Is the Dallas GOP lying?

Why won’t the Dallas GOP turn over the documents CR is requesting?

Is Anne Slagel the new fall guy covering for incompetence and lies for the Dallas GOP?

CR will continue to monitor this situation.

Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock Caught Slipping

In a post on Reddit’s FortWorth group, a user snapped a photo of Kelly Hancock parking like a stereotypical BMW driver:

Hancock would respond to the parking job via his X account:

@CurrentRevolt When you are traveling across the state and the parking lot is still covered in ice early in the morning and there are no white lines to see. But ice and snow will not slow our campaign down.

However the person who took the photo claimed he saw Hancock park there three minutes before he took the photo. The user also pointed out that it is a one-hour parking spot:
