Mom Threatened With CPS For Not Wearing a Mask
Allegations of using threats for mask compliance.
The fear of mask-mandates is looming over normal Americans. Every day as we inch deeper into election season, the liberal media and special interests push mask mandates.
CNN is already running pro-mask propaganda despite admitting the numbers don’t justify it.
Overall, there were about four new hospital admissions for every 100,000 people nationwide in the week ending August 12, which is considered low, according to CDC thresholds. No counties had high levels of Covid-19 hospitalizations. But 85 counties — about 3% of the country — were in the medium threshold. About a quarter of those counties were in Florida.
Four per 100,000. That’s what is currently causing the return of pro-mask hysteria.
So when we spoke with a mom who was threatened with CPS for not wearing a mask, we weren’t totally shocked.
Earlier this week, a mother took her child to Luv Kids Pediatrics, located in Rowlett, Texas. Upon entering the pediatrics office, she was presented with a mask to wear in the doctor’s office.
The mother declined the mask. After declining, the mother alleges the nurse immediately threatened to call DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services, commonly known as CPS or DFPS) on the mother. The mother told us out of fear of the threat she complied, put on the masks, and proceeded with the pediatric visit.
When leaving, the mother asked for a copy of her child’s medical records. The mother then alleges that the nurse refused to release her child’s medical records, telling her that they don’t even release them to the government. The mother alleges that when she asked what she could do to have her child’s medical records released to her, the nurse told her she would need to get a lawyer.
We followed up with Luv Kids Pediatrics where they confirmed they did have mask mandates in place for sick patients and their parents. When we asked if they would threaten to call DCFS on families that did not comply with masks, we were put on hold so they could “confirm with the provider.” When the staffer came back on the line, she told us that they “would (call DCFS) because it’s mandatory to wear masks on sick visits” because “COVID cases are going back up again.”
Shortly after, we received a call from Ken Campbell, owner of Luv Kids Pediatrics. He denied any policy of calling CPS on parents for not masking, saying they “would never do that.” He called any policy like this “crazy” and said he would talk with his staff if there was any issue. He further called any policies threatening penalties or government agencies on parents as “ludicrous.”
We spoke with Jackie Schlegel, Executive Director of Texans for Medical Freedom regarding the alleged incident:
Families should never be threatened with unfounded allegations of child abuse to force compliance with debunked “safety measures” like masking. Americans must ensure that we never allow the government to trample our rights in the name of “public health” ever again.
-Jackie Schlegel, Executive Director of Texans for Medical Freedom
We also spoke with Maureen Ball, an attorney who has represented parents and children in CPS cases:
Threatening a parent with making a CPS report is threatening them with taking their child.
Making an unfounded threat puts a parent in a vulnerable position. They believe they risk losing their child if they don't comply with an office policy.
An intimidating and unfounded threat of a CPS report forces a parent into compliance. It is extremely alarming if a medical provider uses threats and intimidation to file a CPS report to force a parent to do something that the parent finds objectionable.
Merely objecting to an office policy, by itself, is not abuse or neglect.
A parent should have the ability to walk out of the provider's office and consult with another health care provider without fear that CPS will be at their house when they return home.
-Maureen Ball, Attorney
The masks mandates are coming. It’s just a matter of how much people will resist this time around.
Can we get a “best of” made up up all the GOP Texas legislators and leadership wearing their little masks?
I never masked up since the first outbreak of this flu and don't plan on it this time either.
