A Texas man created an app designed to sabotage US federal agents attempting to find and arrest the millions of foreigners who scammed their way into the United States.
Apparently ICE is going to be in Austin today, so it would be a terrible shame if everyone flooded this app with fake ICE sightings.
KXAN:
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Law enforcement sources informed KXAN that at least 50 federal agents arrived in Austin this week for another round of immigration raids.
This comes as increased immigration enforcement efforts are happening around the country. KXAN is working to confirm more details about the operations.
The Austin community, including those in the technology space, try to help people know where those raids may be happening.
Joshua Aaron, who lives in the Austin area, created an app called ICEBlock. According to the app’s description in the Apple Store, it’s designed to help users, “Stay informed about reported ICE sightings, within a 5 mile radius of your current location, in real-time.”
The idea is that when an ICE sighting is reported in the app, illegal aliens get a push notification and go into hiding like cockroaches.
This is the man behind the app, apparently living in Texas, who is now trying to defy lawful orders from the U.S. government.
The app is called ICE Block. You definitely should not download it and flood it with fake sightings as a service to our community (Americans.)
Does ICE need an app? That’s actually a good idea and clearly needed. We created a mockup of what we have in mind.
If you immediately tried to subscribe, we apologize. This app doesn’t exist yet.
Should it though?
This ICE Block app is definitely a situation worth monitoring.
It would be too bad if subscribers to this “service” claimed ICE was active near the activist’s residence or place of work.
