Drew Darby, 79, has entered the chat with the most boomer take imaginable, telling French to delete the post and pretend nothing is happening.
A few days before all this went down, the Fifth Circuit quietly killed a law that gave illegal aliens in-state tuition at schools like the University of Texas. A law those same “anti-racist” Republicans had twelve chances to repeal and never once voted on.
The Legislature passed it in 2001, calling it the “Dream Act,” with Charlie Geren among the yes votes. Then TWELVE Republican sessions of nothing.
It died on June 4, 2025, when the Justice Department sued Texas and Ken Paxton agreed the same afternoon.

Six hours for the lawyers. Twelve sessions for our ultra-conservative Texas Legislature.
In 2025 Jared Patterson filed HB 1815 and Jeff Leach filed HB 2535 to repeal it. Neither got a hearing.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick actually said it out loud: “I’m glad AG Paxton settled this lawsuit after session because it immediately bans in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, rather than having to wait for legislation to go into effect.”
Thank goodness a judge handled it so none of these staunch conservatives had to figure out how to avoid another vote.
Limp Hippy Returns with Lawsuit Against Tim O’Hare
The limp hippy is BACK. Last month he went down on the Commissioners Court floor like a raw piece of sausage. This month he has four lawyers.
Former state Rep. Lon Burnam is suing Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare and Tarrant County over criminal trespass restrictions that prohibit Burnam from attending future Commissioners Court meetings.

Burnam refused to leave voluntarily and went limp when authorities tried to remove him, which the lawsuit describes as “nonviolent resistance.”
Lon Burnam is 73, a Democrat, and a coauthor of the 2001 Dream Act you just read about. He signed on March 15, 2001 and he’s been going limp for Texas ever since.
