Rockwall Young Republicans Secede From Statewide YR Group
This is the second county club to exit
The latest in Texas Young Republicans drama, The Rockwall Young Republicans voted unanimously to depart the statewide organization: the Texas Young Republican Federation (TYRF.) This comes after a long series of events involving drama between Texas GOP Chairman Matt Rinaldi, and now-National Young Republicans Chair Hayden Padgett, ultimately culminating in the TYRF disassociating from the Texan Republican Party. Overall, it appears the Rockwell YRs desire to stay with the Republican Party of Texas.
In another happening, Rockwall YR President Geoffrey Lyons resigned from his position as North Texas Regional Director for TYRF, invoking the Rockwall YR’s declaration.
Arguably, this drama will only get more heated as time continues. Does the RPT have a replacement for youth outreach? What’s your take on this controversy? Let us know in the comments below.
Update 10:26 AM: We’re told that Lyons did not resign from his Regional Director position as he was not re-appointed to the position in the first place. His tenure ended at the start of convention, before TYR voted to exit the relationship with the RPT and before Lyons “resigned.”
We also personally remembered when Lyons took credit for convincing “more than 60 friends and relatives to get vaccinated.”
