In a surprising turn of events, State Senator Drew Springer (Senate District 30) announced via press release he would not seek re-election. Springer claims the decision was “a deeply personal one,” and thanked all who supported him throughout his career.
Springer’s declaration astonishes many, considering this is just his first term in the Texas Senate.
His political career has been a complicated one. Springer won a heated special election against pro-grassroots candidate Shelley Luther by aligning with local Democrats, and to this day still makes weird statements.
Presently, we have no intel on what his aspirations are, or his desired new career. Rumor has it however, State Rep. Jared Patterson (R-Frisco) may run to replace him.
Go Jared Go!!! And just keep going!
So Jared leaves HD106 for SD30 and creates an opening for who as his replacement? Brian Livingston, Patrick Wamhoff, the Jeff Cheney/Lori Medina girl or a Pale Horse candidate? Who has been chosen already? Who will the local activists/constituents support?
Interesting times!
