Last Friday, the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) was told that it was time to “come together” and stop attacking each other. Part of coming together, the SREC was told, means not talking with the media anymore.
This is likely due to our recent reporting that the Republican Party of Texas was possibly throttling or blocking emails being sent to SREC members from constituents through the party website.
An article from Current Revolt was displayed on screen during a presentation about not talking to the media.
This message was delivered by Rachel Hooper, the general counsel for the Republican Party of Texas. A message of needing unity to come together to beat Democrats was given.
The irony here is that Hooper’s husband runs a blog that is quite literally critical of fellow Republicans, no different than what we at Current Revolt do:
It seems quite normal, patriotic in fact, for the media to cover and critique the internal dynamics and leadership of the Texas Republican Party, especially considering all of its recent problems.
We receive quite a lot of positive feedback for covering internal news within the Republican Party, something other conservative media in Texas rarely, or flat out refuses, to cover.
While you’re here, if you want to support our continued work, you can donate here.
We’ll keep up at it.
The current situation within the party is deeply concerning. The fact that individuals with questionable backgrounds and motives are leading the party is alarming. To me, it is beyond clear that these individuals do not uphold the conservative values they claim to represent. Moreover, the idea of donating to a party whose leaders have nefarious intentions is ridiculous. Instead, I propose to redirect support to initiatives aimed at removing these individuals from power. This is how we prioritize the well-being and values of our state and how we rebuild the Republican party once again.
Thank you, Current Revolt for being 'transparent' unlike our Republican Party. Someone has got to do the heavy lifting.
