I misspent the prime of my life in Pakistan and Afghanistan, seven years back in the '80s and '90s. Great places to live and travel, if you've got a taste for adventure. I found both Afghans and Pakistanis in general to be nice hospitable folks. They don't always get along among themselves, though, so keep yer head on a swivel and try not to get caught in any crossfires.
Mind you, there IS the whole head-chopping suicide-vest proliferation these days. Those were little in evidence 30 years ago. I guess I'd just point out that 'radical Islam' wasn't really a thing til westerners started stuffing Zionism and 'democracy' down their throats.
Fun fact: After years of lawfare even more specious than that targeting Trump, the rightful Pakistani prime minister, Imran Khan, remains imprisoned, essentially for life, under orders from 'Joe Biden.'
