Texas Senators Save Memorial For Right-Wing Hero, While House Celebrates Pakistan
A Tale of Two Chambers
While it’s common knowledge the Texas Senate gets more done than the State House, already passing legislation rather than just hearing themselves talk for a few hours before giving themselves long weekends. However, it’s not often the Senate has to clean up acts of monumental pettiness, like denying memorials because the honored person critiqued you on social media.
As we covered previously, Chairman of the Local Consent and Calendars Committee Rep. Jared Patterson, denied a memorial resolution for accomplished activist and Texas GOP official Jill Glover, who passed from breast cancer last year. He later released a memorandum claiming he was operating within committee rules.
Thankfully, Sen. Bob Hall, along with Sens. Tan Parker, Angela Paxton, and others filed SR 305, which honored Glover and even adjourned the Senate that day in her name. The resolution mentioned her background, position, and her lasting affects on state politics, including ending child gender mutilation in Texas.
Parker even took to X and Youtube, honoring her legacy further, and mentioning his time spent working with her.
In fact, Sen. Parker had a particularly moving speech while promoting the memorial resolution.
The memorial resolution passed unanimously.
Speaking of Texas House Reps, some wonder what they honored that day. The same day of the aforementioned memorial, HR 32 commemorating Pakistan Day was celebrated in the Texas House.
In yet more troubling news, Pakistan has also been deepening its ties with China, a nation that still occupies Texas land, including sizable swathes near military bases. It’s unknown whether Pakistan is covered under any bills banning farmland purchases by hostile nations.
In a nutshell, some in the Texas House honored a diversity resolution celebrating an increasingly pro-China nation.
On a far lighter note, we’re still dedicated to bringing y’all the latest TXLege drama. No matter what happens, this is guaranteed to be an interesting session, and there’ll be plenty of inspiration for the next Transgender Avengers.
Fun fact: Pakistan is the most inbred nation on Earth, with almost TWO THIRDS of the population married to their cousins:

The Texas House chose to honor the "Arkansas of Asia" (which harbored Osama Bin Laden btw) instead of a notable Texan.
Was honored to stand in memory of patriot, Jill Glover. A disgrace to the Texas House. The Senate attempts to fix all indecency of House actions.
