Being a teacher is one of the easiest jobs to do. If you teach 4th grade all you have to do is be smarter than a 4th grader. You also get all the vacation a child gets, which is like 5 months of the year. Lol
The amendment to give a COLA to teachers is a no-brainer. Teachers have a very difficult job and regardless of what @Gordon Bombay thinks, they are underpaid and the retirement benefits have not been upgraded since 2004. Retired teachers need the COLA and please vote yes.

The premise of your question is totally inaccurate, but I do think that when our economy is causing working people to not be able to pay their bills, employers need to give cost of living raises. In this case, the Teacher Retirement System is paying the bill for retired teachers and that is why this amendment is needed. Without a COLA since 2004, we have a large number of retirees receiving $1000/month or less. That is sad. Please vote yes for the amendment.
At this point in time, no one believes your schtick. You can only be a retired teacher with your hand in someone else's pocket to cushion your life. Teachers today aren't worth a dime for the most part. They are the first to get indoctrinated and then go on to happily indoctrinate the kids put in their charge. Shame on them and shame on you.

I am a long time educator and your comments indicate you don't really know much about teaching and what goes into it.
Teaching is so easy they don’t even fire you if you fail and fail miserably.
Look at HISD. HS students there can’t even read. Did they fire any teachers because they failed to teach kids to read?
