Anyone, or any company, giving 1.4 million dollars to a politician, definitely expects a quid pro quo. This "pay to play" system is nothing less than bribery. Under this system, a district attorney can accept sums of money from defendants coming up for trial. After the money is deposited in the DA's campaign account, the charges against the defendant can suddenly be reduced, or dismissed. That DA can say it was a coincidence, but one would have to ask, "why would a defendant donate to the person who is about to prosecute him/her?" The same question goes for the company that would donate 1.4 million to the governor.
