Frisco ISD Lobbies Against HB1 School Choice / Voucher Scam
Superintendent sent a mass email out to parents and teachers.
Frisco ISD Superintendent, Dr. Mike Waldrip, sent out a mass email this week asking parents and staff to oppose the latest school choice proposal, House Bill 1.
The letter, shown above, includes a link for parents to click which takes them to an outside website. The website then asks parents to add their name to a pre-written letter which will be sent on their behalf to their State Representative. The letter asks lawmakers to oppose House Bill 1 by voting NO.
This is not the first time Frisco ISD’s superintendent has delved into partisan politics. Waldrip previously waged a very public war against Frisco’s Republican State Representative, Jared Patterson.
Many people have expressed concern about public school officials using government time and resources to lobby and electioneer. Mass emails telling parents and teachers to oppose legislation and now possibly even facilitating direct communication with lawmakers to oppose legislation is just the latest scandal.
Attorney General Ken Paxton has previously sent letters to 3 other ISDs accusing them of electioneering.
The law for electioneering is as follows:
There is also the Texas Constitution’s provision on lobbying by government employees:

Is Dr. Waldrip crossing the line by using his title to organize opposition to legislation? Let us know in the comments.
“School choice” is as exhausting as trannies. I never want to hear about either again.
As a taxpayer and the parent of a FISD student, I was very unhappy to receive that illegal electioneering email from Mike. When are publicly-funded institutions going to be held legally accountable for electioneering activities?
