For those who don’t know, Gateway Church in Southlake, TX is a massive church, boasting multiple campuses and thousands of congregants. Luckily for their communities, Gateway historically backed conservative candidates for leadership, from town councils to school boards.
During the chaos following now-disgraced Robert Morris’s resignation from the pastorate, leadership scrambled to find an interim pastor. In the process, a particularly subversive guy was picked.

The congregation at Gateway Church in Southlake will be greeted by a new face this Sunday.
The church announced that Pastor Max Lucado will become the interim teaching pastor. Lucado is a best-selling author and the current pastor at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio.
In a message posted to Facebook, Lucado said "My role at Gateway is only in the interim teaching capacity, currently scheduled through the end of 2024. I will have no leadership or administrative role." Lucado continued, "Be assured, I am still a minister in my home church where I have been since 1988. I will preach in both locations this fall."
Max Lucado supposedly won’t have an administrative role, but he’ll surely be able to influence the congregation. Judging by Lucado’s past activities, Gateway might go in a more woke direction. Imagine, if you will, a church going from being a beloved stronghold for Rightism, to the latest conquest by Neomarxists in less than 1.5 years.
After gulping enough Monster drinks to give a humpback a heart attack, we found plenty of concerning information about Lucado.
His Caving To The LGBTQP Cause
Perhaps Lucado’s most obvious misdeed occurred in early 2021, when he apologized to the LGBTQ community for “hurtful” words, and because “the church has harmed the LGBTQ community.” In a nutshell, the letter is about coddling sexual deviants, and attacking 2,000 years worth of Christian theologians and teachers for seeing homosexuality as it is in orthodox Christian doctrine.
Worse yet, Lucado indirectly savages the Bible itself (1 Corinthians 6:9) and thinks himself holier than most Christians throughout recorded history. This alone should disqualify him from church leadership, but unfortunately his promotion of antinomianism doesn’t stop there.
Hat-Tipping BLM & The Pro-CRT Crowd
Like many “apolitical” pastors, Max Lucado prostrated himself before BLM and other anti-White hate mobs during the 2020 “fiery summer of love.”
The eon-length prayer is mostly Lucado blubbering over America’s “sin of racism” and things that happened fifty years ago, and repenting of racism and slavery on behalf of the entire White race.
Lucado Was a NeverTrumper
Rewinding to 2016, Lucado was a diehard NeverTrumper and hasn’t backed down as far as we know. His reasoning for bashing Trump: because he’s a meanie.
Via NPR
Apparently, having a sense of edginess disqualifies you from the presidency, but killing babies and promoting sexual perversion is acceptable. Discernment tip: if a so-called “true conservative” spends more time bashing people to his/her Right than to his/her Left, he/she is probably not your ally.
Open Borders Advocacy
With his pearl clutchy Trump-bashing and overall wokeness, it makes sense he’d be an open borders activist. During the initial controversies surrounding refugee curtailments and deporting anchor babies, Lucado joined Beth Moore, Matt Chandler, and other Neomarxists in demanding the US surrender to third-world invaders.
I was unaware of a “Thou shalt commit treason” commandment; if these are the same people leading American Christendom, consider me a voice for “separation of church and state.”
We have our own nation collapsing, with millions of Americans falling through the economic cracks, many of whom are Evangelical. However, self-appointed theologians think replacing their own congregants with border hordes is more important. Whatever happened to “if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” (1 Timothy 5:8)?
As if those subversions weren’t enough, Lucado signed on with a pro-border squatter group called the Evangelical Immigration Table, some of whose funds came from George Soros.
While Texas has much to do regarding border enforcement, one thing that could hinder churches that aid and abet border hordes would be confiscating their tax exempt status. If the Texas Legislature withdraws this privilege, these pro-open borders tax havens might think twice before continuing to undermine their state and nation.
There’s a general trend among Evangelical apparatchiks toward subversion, which Max Lucado has observably contributed to. Lucado is nowhere near an isolated case. You may remember when we covered DFW Pastor Ryan Binkley’s short run for the presidency.
Even more egregious, we were the first to report when dispensationalist megachurch pastor John Hagee, who’s based in San Antonio, donated $1,000 each to turncoat ex-Vice President Mike Pence (who ran against Trump in the 2024 primary), and CCP-tied open borders activist Rep. Tony Gonzales.
A question arises from all this: Is Gateway next? If woke hirelings wanted to conquer this church, doing so amidst a horrific scandal would be a good time to do so; as Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel once said, “never let a good crisis go to waste.”
Yes, we know Lucado is supposed to be an “interim pastor” at Gateway until 2024’s end. That said, what was leadership thinking bringing aboard a “Social Justice Warrior” with such pungent baggage?
If the decision to further platform him was a harbinger of things to come, or worse, he somehow gets a more “permanent” hold in the church, Gateway is toast. For the sake of the congregation and the communities affected by it, we hope this is remedied.
Shame on you! This article is full of blatant lies. I am so disappointed in you! Max Lucado is not woke at all! That letter is not saying he agrees with their lifestyle. He very clearly states he believes that marriage is between a man and a woman. He’s pointing out how judgmental the church has been toward anyone who has made a mistake or doesn’t “measure up” to the legalistic and narrow view of churches as a whole. Jesus doesn’t judge LBGTQ persons or ppl who are divorced, having affairs, stealing, lying, addicted to something, etc. He loves them. That is the beauty of Christianity. God made us in his image and likeness and He loves us where we are at.
I’m so disappointed in how you took things out of context to lie and confuse people. Again, Shame On You!!!!!
I am a Baptist and a pro-Trumper and have enjoyed past writings of Lucado. Albeit, I haven't read anything from him in a few years and have "had my eyes opened" to this wokeism of his I had not known of at all! I am very disappointed in his current views, especially when the Bible is so very clear about how God feels and says with regard to LBGTQ individuals. When God uses the word "abhors," this is as bad as he can hate what He hates because He made woman for man and marriage to be a union between a (natural) man and a (natural) woman. Who in this world has the right to consider himself/herself higher than God to change what God established as His Word!?! When Lucado sides also with the group that wants to allow illegal aliens to enter our country and receive benefits that rightfully belong to American citizens, I am appalled at his beliefs in this matter. The Bible's purpose is to bring sinners to repentance and salvation, then to follow this with scriptural baptism and joining a
scriptural church, and, finally, to continue in His teachings "until the end of the world. Amen." The Bible does not encourage nor teach that homosexualism and lesbianism is a right way of life. One can choose to live the life he/she desires. A Christian is not to be hateful in his/her teaching of the scriptures that refer to this subject matter; however, we should not have to apologize for sharing God's truths as Jesus commands us to do in Matthew 28: 18, 19, 20. I pray that more Christians will stand up to live the life in which we say we believe and not apologize because we choose to do so. I also pray that Max Lucado has a change of heart to see the rights that Donald Trump (in spite of his 'meaness') did while he was president and how he will continue to try to govern to "Make America Great Again!" The only reasons he did not accomplish all that he said he wanted to accomplish is because the Democrats worked tirelessly to keep him "tied up" in the courts and hindered him in other ways! Go, MAGA!
