Despite having a dumpster fire to manage in DC, US House Speaker Mike Johnson found time to stump for Left-leaning “Republican” Congressman Tony Gonzales. Though Gonzales is wildly unpopular, the Speaker thought it was a good idea to help an acolyte keep his seat.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) was furious Tuesday over House Speaker Mike Johnson’s appearance alongside Rep. Tony Gonzales at a San Antonio fundraiser, days after Gonzales trashed GOP hardliners in Congress as “real scumbags.”
“To have the speaker be in San Antonio campaigning for Tony … I’m just beside myself that that’s where things are,” Roy told San Antonio radio station KTSA.
“I’m being attacked. Conservatives are being attacked. Bob Good, the chairman of the Freedom Caucus, is being attacked by Tony,” Roy said.
“He said that he’s a Klansman. Yeah, I cannot tolerate what’s happening to the people that I think are standing up for this country.”
Roy, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, was referencing Gonzales’ vicious live television rant from Sunday.
“I serve with some real scumbags,” Gonzales vented during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“Look, Matt Gaetz, he paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties,” Gonzales went on, reviving unproven allegations against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).
“Bob Good endorsed my opponent, a known neo-Nazi,” the Texas Republican further alleged. “These people used to walk around with white hoods at night, now they are walking around with white hoods in the daytime.”
For those wondering, we at Current Revolt covered Gonzales’s Democrat-esque rambling in the past.
Anyway, moving on…
Johnson’s appearance at the San Antonio fundraiser was long-planned and coincides with the National Republican Congressional Committee’s spring dinner in Dallas Tuesday night, a person familiar told The Post.
The fundraiser reportedly raked in nearly $300,000 in donations, according to Punchbowl.
Speaker Johnson, like Phelan in the Texas House, is already known for backstabbing those who elected him. Case in point, his support for a Democrat-backed bill giving infinity free stuff to Ukraine, whilst leaving our own border abandoned (“something something cloture rule.”)
At this point, an endorsement from Speaker Johnson should be anathema to anyone paying attention to politics.
While many Texas Congressmen, from Keith Self to Beth Van Duyne, opposed this insane measure, Tony Gonzales joined Dan “eyepatch McCain” Crenshaw in passing this funding bill.
Is anyone surprised though? He already puts Texan priorities on the back-burner. Anyone who doesn’t want our state and nation converting to Third-World communism is “unchristian” in his view.
Throughout his tenure, Rep. Gonzales demanded open borders, only stopping once it became inconvenient.
Making matters worse, Gonzales voluntarily associates with known NeoCons like Nikki “Nimrata Randhawa” Haley who claim calling illegal aliens “criminals” is “disrespectful,” facts be damned.
Like his co-ideologue Dade Phelan, Gonzales was justly excommunicated by the Texas GOP for his pro-invasion actions.
If Gonzales wins, expect more of the same behavior. I mean, what’s really the difference between him and a Democrat?
To sidetrack for a bit, for all this talk of needing a new Speaker (and leadership in general), when do we get Speaker Van Duyne? Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich even recommended her; she’d be a “mighty fine” House Speaker.
Mike Johnson’s staff is a cesspool of Never-Trump RINOS and war-profiteering lobbyists. It’s little wonder Democrats backed him for Speaker so enthusiastically. Getting praised the likes of Paul Ryan tells you all you need to know.

He is not tone deaf.. he's just listening to a different tone (i.e. the tone of the donor class.. not the voter class).
